Kempton 12:50 – Midnights Legacy

Midnights Legacy failed to meet expectations in two juvenile hurdles last season but, having shown improved Flat form in the interim, he completed a simple task with the minimum of fuss at Plumpton last month. This will require more than that three-runner affair, but the ability Midnights Legacy showed on the Flat suggests there’s more to come.

Kempton 13:20 – Sopran Thor

Sopran Thor improved significantly on his hurdles form when bolting up on his chasing debut at Lingfield last week and a 7 lb penalty should not prevent him from following up. Sopran Thor jumped soundly in the main, seemingly relishing the test, and he has more to offer in this sphere. Niall Houlihan’s 5 lb claim helps to offset the penalty.

Kempton 13:55 – Doddiethegreat

Doddiethegreat created an excellent impression in bumpers last season, scoring at Ludlow and Huntingdon in the style of an exciting prospect. He was well on top on both occasions and it would be little surprise were he to take high rank over hurdles. He can make a winning start over hurdles at a venue where Nicky Henderson likes to run his good prospects.

Kempton 14:30 – Isolate

Isolate has taken well to chasing and he justified strong support when scoring over course and distance last month. That was an impressive display from Isolate, who quickened clear on the approach to the second-last and was well on top at the finish. A 5 lb rise in the weights is not severe and he may still have a bit more to offer over fences.

Kempton 15:00 – Boreham Bill

Boreham Bill beat only one rival home on his reappearance at Aintree last month but he shaped as if likely to come on for the run after still being in contention at the final flight. The handicapper has eased Boreham Bill a couple of pounds, so he is now only 4 lb higher than when winning the Lanzarote Hurdle over this course and distance in January. He should be spot-on with the benefit of that Aintree outing under his belt and is likely to give a good account.

Kempton 15:30 – Alpha Carinae

Alpha Carinae has won a point, a bumper and a hurdle and she can make a winning chase debut. She perhaps didn’t kick on as expected over hurdles after scoring in such promising style at Perth and she was especially disappointing on her final start of the campaign at Newbury. However, she has been given a wind operation and returns with her yard firing on all cylinders, so it would be little surprise were she to prove much better than this mark.

Kempton 16:00 – Wise Glory

Wise Glory was a useful performer on the Flat for Simon Crisford in 2020 – he notably won a competitive handicap at the Newmarket July meeting – and he has the ability to prove much better than a mark of 105 over hurdles. Wise Glory has been disappointing over hurdles but it’s still early days and he’s in excellent hands with Paul Nicholls, so he should be able to make the most of this good opportunity.
