GINTO was a useful winner in bumpers so may prove hard to beat on hurdles bow. Benny The Duke showed plenty to work on when second at Punchestown, while Midnight It Is sets a fair standard.

MY MATE MOZZIE made a very taking start to his hurdling career at Punchestown last month, winning in the manner of a potentially smart recruit, and he’s taken to follow up. Chemical Energy rates another good prospect and is feared most ahead of San Salvador, who would have gone very close in a similar event at Tipperary but for departing at the last.

13:10 – Flooring Porter

FLOORING PORTER proved to be a revelation last season, producing a high-class performance when landing the Stayers’ Hurdle in March. His subsequent effort at Punchestown is best ignored in isolation and he gets the nod to come out on top. Sire du Berlais, who took this 12 months ago, was runner-up behind the selection at Cheltenham and can emerge as the chief threat.

13:45 – Influential Lady

INFLUENTIAL LADY comes here firmly on the up and is taken to defy a 9 lb rise in the weights and complete a quick hat-trick after really impressing at Thurles. Brides Hill rates a big threat on the back of her own taking success at Tipperary, with Thousand Tears high on the shortlist too in a competitive handicap.

14:20 – Room To Roam

ROOM TO ROAM has a poor strike-rate but ran his best race for some time when second at Roscommon under his rider 6 weeks ago and could be set to strike. Broken Ice and in-form mare Farrawaybay are a couple of other strong candidates.

14:55 – Notebook

NOTEBOOK and Samcro both have a bit to prove but the former gives his running much more often of the pair, so he’s preferred in a tricky contest. If both the aforementioned underperform, Bridge Native will likely be on hand to capitalise.

15:25 – Ballyadam

A useful novice hurdler last season, BALLYADAM got no further than the first on chase debut at Punchestown in October. However, a winner of his sole start in points, he’s well worth another chance to get on the up for his leading stable. Buddy Rich has knocked on the door over fences and his experience should count for plenty once more. Wide Receiver and Pure Genius complete the shortlist.

15:55 – Gringo Daubrelle

GRINGO D’AUBRELLE has recorded a highly promising hurdling debut since running in a bumper first time out, so he’s well fancied to open his account back in this sphere. Newcomers Colonel Bellew and Mount Brown are interesting on paper and should ensure that it’s not all plain sailing for the selection.
