This may be best left to one of the nursery newcomers and KENNET, who shaped quite well at Leicester last time, is marginally preferred to Lyrical Lady and They Don’t Know.
This looks good for NATIONS PRIDE who already looks useful having bolted up at Lingfield on his second start. Levitate looked green when third on his Bath debut, so should be more streetwise this time and he can prove the best alternative ahead of Army General.
Silver Kitten should make a bold bid despite the penalty but her limitations are well established now. Queen’s Company looks a likely improver now upped to 7f but DOOLILY has improved with each of her three starts and this could be the day things fall into place.
Last-time-out course winners If You Dare and Trumble are high on the shortlist but JACK’S POINT threatened a revival on his penultimate start and had an excuse last time so could be ready to exploit this drop in class.
Although he is capable of making his presence felt having run so well last time, Barrington has a tendency to find one or two to beat him as his record of 2-43 shows. Both divisions of this race went to a 3yo last year and that age group can produce the winner again in the shape of RIVER CHORUS, whose last two efforts have been solid while she may benefit from the first-time tongue-tie. The favourably handicapped Adace is another to keep an eye on.
As with the first division it may be best to concentrate on the 3yos with the vote going to HANOVERIAN KING. He made a successful return from a gelding operation over C&D in September and there may still be more to come from him. Eljaytee and Lady Amalthea are both worth keeping an eye on, while Dors Toyboy looks best of the older horses.
This could revolve around the three at the head of the weights. Tyger Bay still has more to come as a sprinter but a wide draw isn’t ideal and this track may not suit quite so well as Kempton. Lilkian has no such track concerns and should feature from the inside stall but FAUVETTE (nap) is preferred. She has already won on Polytrack, looked good at Yarmouth on her penultimate start and shouldn’t be judged too harshly on her latest disappointing run on slow ground at Pontefract.
Victory Roll isn’t bred to be running in 0-60s and he could take a step forward on his handicap debut. Julia Feilden looks to hold strong claims with Fen Tiger and ENGRAVE though and the latter, who hinted at a revival in a useful 0-65 here two weeks ago, can gain her fifth C&D success.
