Most of today’s runners will never have experienced racing on the strand before but Timeform have gotten their buckets and spade out to give us their best bets for the annual trip to the Irish seaside.
Having battled well to win a much better race at Dundalk on Friday, ARCANEARS (nap) has a great chance of following up under a penalty as he gets to race off his considerably lower turf mark. If this race comes a bit soon or he doesn’t take to the beach, Mogwli and Lord McZie might be best placed to take advantage.
An open handicap but STANHOPE really caught the eye when finishing well over 5f at the Curragh last time and a 2lb rise still leaves him on a very attractive mark. Sunset Nova and Eglish are solid all-weather performers who should be able to give their running on this surface while Rocky Dreams also comes here on the back of a good run at Dundalk.
This looks likely to revolve around the similarly-rated Business and THALEEQ and the 3lb claim of the champion apprentice could just tilt things in favour of Dermot Weld’s runner.
Rated 73 on the AW, WAR HERO should be capable of taking this even though he hasn’t been at his best lately. Pimstrel and Tony The Gent look his most likely dangers.
A model of consistency, MEISHAR raced too freely over 1m at Dundalk last time but dropping down to this trip can see him notch another win. Castletownshend, Rebel Tale and Skontonovski look most likely to give him most to do.
Though disappointing over hurdles for this yard, RAAMEZ had some useful Flat form in France and should be comfortable enough over this trip. Dalvey has been disappointing for this yard lately but has the ability to go well if anything near his best.
