12:40 – Mosala

The Gordon Elliott-trained Showbusiness sets the standard to aim for of those with experience over hurdles, and would not be winning out of turn, but the hurdling newcomer MOSALA could well have his measure. Rated 93 at the peak of his powers so far on the Flat, he will be well drilled for the task on hand and his owner/trainer/rider combo won this with a similar type in 2019. Crowns Major, Luke Short and Figurehead are others to bear in mind.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:15 – Jeremys Jewel

Following a recent narrow defeat over hurdles at Fairyhouse, dual bumper winner JEREMYS JEWEL (nap) could be the one to beat here. Although she has yet to race on ground this soft, many of her sire’s progeny relish it. Manisanda, Memorable Daise and Nancy Wyse look likely dangers among the other hurdling debutantes, while the best of those with hurdling experience looks to be Emily Roebling.

13:50 – The Getaway Star

A competitive renewal in which THE GETAWAY STAR is taken to see out the trip and get the better of Ballywilliam Boy, Benbulben Boy and Captain Kangaroo. Mr Josiey Wales is probably the least exposed and a potential improver, while Sweet Street has a fair bit to find on ratings but loves this track.

14:25 – Cape Gentleman

This will take a bit of winning with all seven candidates holding some sort of claims. French Dynamite looks destined to play a big part in proceedings this season, but the lack of a run could well catch him out, and the slight preference is for the race-fit youngster of the field CAPE GENTLEMAN. This will be a far more demanding test than his recent win but he is open to any amount of improvement. Run Wild Fred could be a bigger danger than the veteran Bleu Berry.

15:00 – Screaming Colours

A winner in testing ground on his seasonal return last season, SCREAMING COLOURS gets the vote, ahead of Mister Fogpatches, who has the benefit of a recent run, a promising one at that. Russian Diamond is a potential improver on handicap debut but seemingly has a stiff task under top-weight, greater threats could come from the more lightly-weighted Glorious Galway and Spades Are Trumps.

15:30 – General Clermont

A mixed bag with question marks surrounding many. GENERAL CLERMONT was done no favours by the wandering winner when finishing a clear second at Killarney last time and can now make the breakthrough. Karawaan has been frustrating since going hurdling but the former Irish Lincoln winner will pop up in one of these some time and has his ground here. Romella encounters much softer ground than she has of late when notching up a hat-trick of wins but has to be respected, while the 4yos Peckham Springs and Perry Owens are others to consider.

16:05 – Agritime

Impossible to look beyond AGRITIME. Emmet Mullins’ mare looked a smart sort when justifying skimpy odds on at Limerick her second start and she should be able to concede weight all round here. The newcomers Hi Ski and Man After Midnight are the most interesting of her rivals.
