Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of the four best performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets…
SIESTA BEACH admittedly has a fair bit to find on form, but this step up to 6 furlongs will suit her. Michael O’Callaghan’s charge opened her account at the fourth attempt in 18-runner maiden at Naas 12 days ago and having Tom Marquand onboard is a plus.
SACRE PIERRE has taken to hurdling like a duck to water. He was victorious in juveniles at Uttoxeter and Cartmel during the summer and is open to further improvement here. Donald McCain’s charge is a brother to five winners and has dam was a winner over a mile-and-a-quarter. Most of the others suit be considered too and the French recruit Porticello, who is undefeated, could be particularly interesting.
The Godolphin entrants MOVING LIGHT and Neptune Seas are lightly raced and hold interesting possibilities in this contest. A chance is taken that the former will return fresh from his year off to take this one. Neptune Seas takes a step back up in trip, but will need to raise his game to be involved. Kattani and Bad Company are also on the shortlist.
WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF needs to be considered as the selection here. Philip Kirby’s gelding performed admirably as a novice chaser last season and won twice, his victory in a valuable event at Carlisle was particularly eye-catching. He also won over this course and distance two weeks ago on his return to the track.
