GETTHEPOT ended his time with Graeme McPherson on the up, winning a handicap at Ayr in May and finishing runner-up on his last two starts. He has since made an interesting stable switch to Fergal O’Brien, who is among the winners, and a big run is expected in a winnable race. Flexi Furlough has her fitness proven and is next on the list on the back of her good Perth second, with in-form Not What It Seems also not taken lightly now going into handicaps.
14:05 Ahoy Senor
A trio of smashing chase prospects in the shape of AHOY SENOR, Barbados Buck’s and Ashtown Lad. The first-named runner was talented enough to win a Grade 1 on just his second start over hurdles last spring and everything about him suggests he will do even better over the larger obstacles. He has to get the vote ahead of Barbados Buck’s, who progressed rapidly through the ranks last season and is another who looks a chaser.
14:40 Restandbethankful
A few with chances, but RESTANDBETHANKFUL should take a step forward from his promising reappearance at Chepstow earlier this month where he left the impression he would sharpen up for the outing. That was also his first start since a breathing operation and much better is expected now for the in-form Olly Murphy team. Son of Red is unexposed in this sphere and feared most after a recent run on the Flat, with Got Trumped weighted to have a say too if fully tuned up on his first run for Sandy Thomson.
15:15 Sacre Pierre
Several promising types on show here, not least SACRE PIERRE, who looks potentially useful judged on his clear-cut victories at Uttoxeter and Cartmel this summer. He defied a penalty in some style on his latest start and he deserves his place in this company. The form of Porticello’s debut success at Auteuil is working out particularly well and he is greatly respected having his first start on these shores.

15:50 Eclair D’Ainay
The vote goes to ECLAIR D’AINAY, who took well to fences last term and there could be better to come from this low-mileage seven-year-old. Magic Saint is greatly respected, for all that conceding weight all round will not be easy, and Good Boy Bobby is capable of a bold show off his present mark. Whoshotthesheriff is another to consider, while French-recruit Laskalin is one to note in the betting.
16:25 Finistere
FINISTERE shaped well until his stamina appeared to give out on his chase debut at Huntingdon earlier this month, and he could well come good now dropped back to two miles. He is picked over Larch Hill, who has thrived for the switch to the Pogson yard and rates an obvious danger, while the handicapper has arguably taken a bit of a chance dropping Ballyvic Boru 4 lb for his run here last time, meaning he’s now 7 lb lower than when winning this last year.
16:55 Knickerbockerglory
KNICKERBOCKERGLORY was most impressive when getting off the mark in a Ludlow bumper nine months ago and, having joined the thriving Dan Skelton yard subsequently, he looks just the type to do well as a hurdler, so he’s narrowly preferred to Stream of Stars, who made an excellent start for Nigel Twiston-Davies at Bangor recently.
