Horse Racing tips: Jason Weaver’s 6 super selections for Friday night at Dundalk and Kempton

Six races, two tracks, one Jason Weaver... what's not to like?!

17:45 Dundalk – Laugh A Minute

As of yet Laugh A Minute is still to break his duck on an all-weather surface from seven tries. However, he was very unlucky over this course and distance when last seen. It was a bit of a horror show for him at York last time not getting any daylight late on and he can be called an unlucky loser. The yard have a big runner over at the Breeders’ Cup and this can just boost their confidence before next weekend with A Case Of You.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

18:30 Kempton – Brasil Power

Brasil Power looked as if he took a significant step forward on his second start in a particularly hot contest at Yarmouth, however, he didn’t manage to take what looked like an open goal opportunity at Newcastle last time and folded in the closing stages. Surely he is better than that and would be one of only a handful from this particular outfit to underperform when more was expected. He slots in here on a realistic mark and will benefit from the sharper nature of the track at Kempton.

18:45 Dundalk – Bonnyrigg

Bonnyrigg looked as if he was ready for the step back up to the mile when staying on strongly over 7f at Leopardstown last time, where he hit the line very well. He remains on a feasible mark stepping onto the Dundalk track for the first time and he has been handed a perfect draw position a few off the inside in stall four. Billy Lee is in the saddle again and he can get a perfect draft into the contest and produce him late from that position.

19:30 Kempton – Fivethousandtoone

Fivethousandtoone has had very little go his way this season. Look back at his form at the start of 2021 when chasing home St Mark’s Basilica and it’s amazing that he hasn’t managed to get a victory on the board. He does have a tendency to race enthusiastically and hopefully our rider Silvestre De Sousa can get him on the tail of the leaders without doing too much early on. He is the class of the field hence he is carrying top weight but he is long overdue a success towards the end of the campaign.

19:45 Dundalk – Dark Kris

Dark Kris has dropped a long way in the handicap and now finds himself on a mark that he is going to win off very shortly. He was a big eyecatcher last time over the long sprint distance and stepping up a furlong looks the right way to go. He will need to be sharper at the gate than he was last time as he threw it away completely. He fought into a challenging position without getting much daylight up the run for home. Given a pinch of luck here, he can get it done.

20:30 Kempton – Mint Julep

Mint Julep put up a very good performance on his stable debut last time at Yarmouth and defied his odds of 125/1 to be a big eyecatcher late in the day despite hanging left under pressure. An experienced rider, Rossa Ryan, takes over in the saddle and he steps up to what could prove to be his ideal distance. He’s not reached his ceiling as of yet and is only having his sixth lifetime start here. I think the handicapper underestimated him by leaving him on exactly the same rating of just 52.
