13:20 Mr Glass

A few of these could be much better than they have shown so far but the most obvious answer is MR GLASS, who looked useful in bumpers last season and now makes his hurdling debut. Fishkhov didn’t find much for pressure after travelling well on his hurdling debut in January but a subsequent wind op may enable a stronger finishing effort here. Hazard Collonges, Softkore and Unit Sixtyfour are others in the group of potential improvers.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:55 Stage Star

C’est Quelqu’un will be a tough nut to crack if his slow-ground French chase form can be transferred to this British debut but it’s hard to oppose hurdling debutant STAGE STAR, who was placed in a Grade 2 Aintree bumper when we last saw him in April. Deeper Blue and Young Butler are considered each-way.

14:30 Huntsman Jog

In an interesting novices’ handicap the suggestion is HUNTSMAN JOG, who ran well in defeat over 2m7f here 18 days ago and might be seen to even better effect over today’s longer trip. Starsky was pipped on the post after looking sure to make a winning chase debut at Worcester this month and is second choice but chasing debutants Pennyforapound and Docpickedme both have significant potential.

15:05 Samtara (NAP)

Given his ability on the Flat, maiden hurdle winner Moon King could be on a good mark for today’s handicap hurdle debut. However, SAMTARA (nap) probably posted a new career-best effort when second to a French import at Worcester last month and, with today’s longer trip also suitable, he gets the nod. Silver In Disguise took very well to chasing in February and it will be interesting to see how he fares back hurdling over a new trip.

15:40 Merry Mistress

This might go to handicap debutante MERRY MISTRESS, who returned from a four-month break with a promising run at Warwick last month. Worcester maiden winner Kazontherazz ran better than the bare form suggests when fifth on her latest outing and she’s another handicap debutante with some potential. Legendary Rhythm and Esme Shelby can also feature.

16:15 Getaround

Dan Skelton’s new recruit GETAROUND was a useful novice hurdler for Ella Pickard last season and his convincing Irish point win in 2019 bodes very well for his prospects as a chaser. Pats Fancy found things tough in high-class novice hurdles in the second half of last season but there was considerable promise from him in late 2020 and he’ll be dangerous if back on song for today’s chasing debut. Jeremy Pass is next on the list.

16:50 Sinister Minister

Good cases can be made for a few of these but top of the list is SINISTER MINISTER, who is unexposed after only two hurdle starts and stuck to his task very well when second in a Worcester maiden for Nigel Twiston-Davies in May. Cossack Dancer ran well in defeat on his handicap debut in April and is feared most. The Cincinnati Kid and Bourbali are others with potential.

17:20 Letthetruthbeknown

Hillfinch won stylishly on her debut at Market Rasen last month, while Paul Nicholls’ newcomer Henri The Second has a good pedigree but LETTHETRUTHBEKNOWN surged to the front to beat 16 rivals quite comfortably at Cork in April and he is taken to follow up on his first start for Oliver Greenall.
