A hot novice handicap chase which is hard to call. Maybe EXOD’ELA will improve for the switch to fences and he gets preference over Coral and recent C&D winner Wigglesworth. There are any number of others who could have a say, including Saint Palais and Anax.

It should pay to concentrate on those representing trainers who do particularly well in this sphere and the suggestion is TCHOUPINMINZAC, whose Irish debut form sets the standard. With his potential, he could take some beating. This may not be as competitive as the previous division and the suggestion is to side with HUGOS NEW HORSE. A half-brother to Black Corton, he is likely to be ready to give a good account on his debut and may prove up to the task. Fellow newcomers Tantoli, Methody and Cheating Jack are interesting. Chancycourt registered two positive efforts in Irish points, so perhaps he can prove the chief threat.

The vote goes to ULTIMATE GETAWAY (nap), who looks well treated on his handicap hurdle debut. Brief Ambition is going the right way and might be more effective in handicap company than he was in a small-field novice at Perth last time. He rates the biggest danger ahead of Taste The Fear.

Nicky Henderson won this race last year with the useful Floressa and BRILLIANT PRESENT is taken to give the trainer another win. She can build on a promising hurdles debut at Warwick. Ucanaver had smart bumper form and is the chief threat, ahead of Malaita.

There are plenty of promising youngsters in this line-up but it might be worth taking a chance on DAN’S CHOSEN making a winning start over hurdles. Fair Frontieres looks the biggest danger ahead of The Grand Visir, but don’t rule out Night In Manhattan, who has had wind surgery and is probably a lot better than he was able to show when pulled up on his hurdles debut at Southwell.
