13:55 Clitheroe

The one to beat is CLITHEROE, who nearly made a winning debut at Newbury then ran well in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood later in August. Second choice is Morag McCullagh, who should build on her Newmarket effort. Favourite Child is much more exposed but she has decent form, while Anniversary Belle also shouldn’t be far away. Kyber Crystal needs to show the benefit of a first-time hood. Half of the field are newcomers and any positive market moves should be heeded.

There was a lot to like about TARHIB’s reappearance win at Lingfield 15 days ago and she looks to have been found a gilt-edged opportunity to follow up. Cousins Joy might be the answer for forecast backers.

Pocket The Profit and Hilary’s Boy are firmly in the winning groove and look obvious players, while Bonita B holds every chance on the back of a good effort here last week. Several others are open to improvement, notably SILKS DREAM and Irish Millions in that order of preference. Silks Dream may well improve for the combination of a drop to sprinting and first-time headgear, while Irish Millions is an interesting nursery debutant.

15:40 For Love Of Louise

Doubts surround almost all of these and it’s hard to be confident about the outcome but FOR LOVE OF LOUISE is still unexposed with just four runs under her belt, and if she builds on her Kempton sixth she could go close. Gustave Aitch is another open to improvement and could be the main danger, with Grimsthorpe Castle, Pillars Of Earth and the consistent Voi others to consider.

16:15 Wow William

Going Underground comfortably makes the shortlist now he’s back from a break, as his handicap debut two starts ago was full of promise, while Dr Rio could be happier back on softer ground on only his second run for Clive Cox. First choice is WOW WILLIAM (nap) who ran a very solid race at Ffos Las three weeks ago and now has the assistance of Ryan Moore.

16:50 Silver Bubble

We may learn something from the earlier straight-course races as regards any draw bias. As things stand in an open race, SILVER BUBBLE earns narrow preference over Katyusha and Cliffcake.

17:23 Shamarouski

Capla Dream and Ray Day are both capable of better than they showed last time and could feature, while Company Minx would be very dangerous if today was a going day. The pair to appeal most are the in-form Miss Bella Brand and SHAMAROUSKI though, with the latter preferred after a fine run in defeat when last seen.
