Holy Bee finished well for second at Yarmouth last week and is open to more progress on her step up to this trip, but slight preference is for another five-race maiden in SANDS FURY, who went close behind an odds-on rival over C&D last time and a 2lb rise for that clear third looks fair. Another to consider is Mustang Kodi, who was placed behind an improver at Kempton last month and is a big player if he can build on that for a new yard.
Top of the list is COME ON LINDA (nap), who did clear best of the closers when going very close from a wide draw at Chelmsford nine days ago and is on the same mark here. Second choice is the unexposed 3yo Visions Of Glory, who travelled strongly for a long way on his handicap debut at Newcastle and looks interesting on this drop back in trip. Others to consider are Outtake and Manumission who both finished well to snatch third in AW handicaps last time.
Boadicea Belle remains a filly of interest but carrying a penalty against some rivals who have shown stronger form won’t be easy. Resilience and Liangel Hope should both be competitive under suitable conditions but HOT SPELL had an excuse last time and she could be the answer. Without Delay is a well-bred newcomer who needs a market check.
This looks a bit trappy but it might be worth giving another chance to PURE CHARMER, who has been generally consistent and recorded her sixth placed effort when a front-running third in a C&D maiden last time. The main danger is Two Door Saloon, who had a tough draw at Chelmsford 11 days ago and could resume her progress on this drop back in trip. The most interesting newcomer is Kelapa, who is closely related to a very useful sprinter and represents an in-form yard.
There are plenty of in-form contenders in the line-up but the one that appeals most is the progressive hat-trick seeker ON THE RIGHT TRACK, who made it 2-4 here when scoring with authority over C&D two weeks ago. Hooflepuff and the unexposed Theyazin are feared most in that order, though the versatile Nicks Not Wonder should give it another good shot on his drop back in trip. Others who could have a big part to play are Blue Medici, Ivynator and Red Flyer.
Most of these have something to prove but course winner FOLLOW YOUR HEART returned to form with a clear second under a positive ride in a big field at Pontefract last time and is an interesting contender on this drop back in trip. He gets the vote ahead of course specialist Mutabaahy, who went close over C&D on his penultimate run and is a big player if he can recapture that form.
The one that appeals most is the well-bred CIOTOG, who left his initial form well behind when runner-up behind a 1-4 shot at Chester 23 days ago and is open to more progress on this step up in distance. The main threat could come from Shenu, who had an excuse for his odds-on defeat over 1m4f here in February and looks interesting back down in trip on his return.
Calcutta Dream and Aradena both remain capable of better but the trip may be on the sharp side for the former. Trevie Fountain and Capaldi are closely matched on recent C&D form and can go well but this may be the day things fall back into place for HUNTERS STEP. He has had excuses since his Newcastle win in June but he’s more than capable off this sort of mark.
