13:45 – Minella Trump

Donald McCain has had a fantastic week and that can continue with MINELLA TRUMP, who can land a five-timer today. Baron De Midleton has some fair chase form and looks best of the rest.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:20 – Genuflex

The best of these on the Flat by some way, GENUFLEX probably has an excellent chance to get off the mark as a hurdler, having made a very satisfactory first attempt at Ludlow recently. Great Commission surely has the stamina for jumping and the second of his two runs on the Flat showed that he has some ability, so he looks clearly the greatest danger on paper.

14:55 – Zuckerberg

The suggestion is class-dropper ZUCKERBERG, who might well have won here off 5lb higher in May had he not lost momentum at the final fence, and he ran well for a long way when third at Southwell on his latest outing in July. Bill And Barn made an encouraging stable debut two weeks ago and it will be interesting to see whether he can build on that performance.

15:30 – Hewick

The youngest contender HEWICK could be the answer, having been in good form over hurdles and with this longer trip expected to suit. The main threat may come from last year’s winner Red Giant, who took a step back in the right direction at Perth last time. Silva Eclipse is still unexposed over fences and completes the shortlist.

16:05 – Minella Plus

Storm Lorenzo probably sets a fair hurdling standard after his recent Hexham second but MINELLA PLUS is out of a useful jumper and has shown enough in recent bumpers to suggest he might be the answer here. Hurdling debutants Pearl Warrior and Salsada are both capable of useful form over middle-distance trips on the Flat but neither has a compelling record this year.

16:40 – Beach Break

The Vollan ended a long losing spell at Worcester this summer and it will be interesting to see whether his revival gathers momentum on today’s stable debut, but BEACH BREAK (nap) is back on a good mark and can win this race for the second year running. Donald McCain’s 7yo posted a good effort when second over C&D in August and his subsequent defeat at Kelso is probably best overlooked. Gordon’s Jet put a poor run behind him when second in a C&D novice last month and is also considered.

17:15 – A Different Kind

Such was the authority of his C&D success last month that it’s difficult to oppose A DIFFERENT KIND under a penalty. The experienced Guidedbythescience looks the best alternative on her first start for Gillian Boanas.
