17:00 – Broughtons Flare
He would help himself by keeping straighter this time but BROUGHTONS FLARE remains on a good mark and is taken to follow up his recent C&D win. Second choice is Zafaranah, well handicapped on this debut for a new yard. Party Rebel has been inconsistent but she looks a likely player if backing up the form of last month’s course success, while Regina George and potential improver Phlegon are others to consider.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
17:30 – Rhyme Scheme
Tyche is in good heart and is capable of adding to her recent haul but she is drawn widest of all and preference is for RHYME SCHEME who won in a higher grade back on the AW at Chelmsford last week. Her one previous run on Tapeta, in a Newcastle novice, was inconclusive but if handling the surface she ought to have another race in her off this mark. Getting a first win for the well-connected Heat And Dust is proving awkward but she shouldn’t be far away in this company.
18:00 – Flying Standard
The C&D handicap won by Robeam last month looks a key piece of form. Brian Ellison’s 5yo is respected once more but the runner-up FLYING STANDARD and the fifth-placed Tibbie Dunbar have realistic claims of turning the tables, with preference for the former. Tinsmith, in whose honour this race is named, is in a rich vein of form and unlikely to be far away. Thematic and Scheherazade complete the shortlist.
18:30 – Aramis Grey
Recent course maiden winner Dubai Hope could easily have more to offer in handicaps, while Restless Endeavour is respected after shaping quite well at Goodwood last weekend, but ARAMIS GREY (nap) had a bit up her sleeve over C&D last time and can show that she is still a step ahead of the handicapper.
19:00 – Hasty Sailor
The most solid options in an interesting field are HASTY SAILOR and Onesmoothoperator. The latter was arguably unlucky over C&D last time out and has had only five races, but Hasty Sailor has had only one more and he left a favourable impression with the way he saw off his rivals on the Newcastle Tapeta last time. The Trader is too well handicapped to be ruled out comfortably, while Imperial Sun catches the eye with his return to Wolverhampton.
19:30 – Emblem Empire
The Gosden-trained EMBLEM EMPIRE carries a penalty after winning at Lingfield but he may be able to put his experience to good use again here as well. Atacama Desert is a very interesting newcomer in the Niarchos colours for Sir Michael Stoute, seeing as Richard Kingscote rides him instead of Traila who is a big player judged on the form he showed in April on his only start. Master Of Combat is the other one who has shown enough ability to figure prominently.
20:00 – Symbol Of Light
Majestic Fighter found stacks of improvement when scoring in good style over C&D last month and is strongly respected under a penalty, but preference is for Charlie Appleby’s SYMBOL OF LIGHT, who showed plenty of promise with his debut third at Newmarket three weeks ago and sets a good standard on that form. Another to keep an eye on is the well-bred newcomer Cynical Point, whose sales price shot up to £160,000 in June.
20:30 – Brazen Belle
Top of the list is course winner BRAZEN BELLE, who put in a dominant display when scoring off a reduced mark at Lingfield and may well be able to strike again on this drop back in trip. Nacho is only 2lb higher than for his C&D win last time and could be a big danger if this sets up for his closing style. Red Walls went close on Polytrack two weeks ago and has claims if he can back that up, while others to consider are Toplight and Glamorous Force.
