13:40 – Brazen Akoya
With so few positives or solid form in this field, last week’s winners BRAZEN AKOYA and Pocket The Profit have to make appeal, with preference for Philip Makin’s charge who registered her win over C&D, whereas her rival’s improved form came over 7f on soft.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:15 – Amalfi Bay
It was 2m when AMALFI BAY was denied his winning chance late in the day at Lingfield last time but he scored twice over this trip in July and makes most appeal with this line-up containing plenty who have less solid records. While Thunder Ahead has C&D form and should be involved again, a bigger threat may emerge from the Sandown winner Sunset Memory, who is upped in trip, and also from the maiden Zhang Fei who saw the distance out well when he tried 1m4f at Ripon.
14:50 – Kit Gabriel
The leading contenders are Mohi and KIT GABRIEL who both made it fourth time lucky when winning nurseries last month. The former made all over C&D and is open to further progress, but preference is for Kit Gabriel who scored in smooth style at Pontefract and a 5lb rise for that comfortable success looks fair. Another who could have a big part to play is Roger Varian’s unexposed colt Poet, who has a useful pedigree and looks interesting back up in trip on his nursery debut.
15:25 – Twilight Secret
Top of the list is the lightly raced 3yo TWILIGHT SECRET (nap), who showed a good attitude when justifying favouritism over C&D on his recent handicap debut and is open to further progress off only 2lb higher here. Ed Walker’s hat-trick seeker Mount Mogan is feared most, though Hello Me was a creditable third in his bid for a double at York last time and should give it another good shot back on AW.
16:00 – Infrared
An open race in which the vote goes to INFRARED, who made a promising start with his strong-finishing close third at Sandown last month and has plenty of scope for progress on this step up in trip. Second choice is Resilience who left his initial form well behind when runner-up at Kempton 19 days ago. Janaat and Liv Lucky are other key form contenders, while there are also some striking newcomers who need watching in the market including the William Haggas-trained Sareeha.
16:35 – Pretty Sweet
This is an interesting rematch between Fierospeed and PRETTY SWEET who finished first and second in a C&D handicap 13 days ago. The former is 3-6 on AW and should make another bold bid, but slight preference is for George Boughey’s well-bred filly who only just failed behind her old rival last time and is still unexposed. Tricolore chased home a handicap blot here last month and has each-way claims, while another to consider is triple C&D winner Daheer, who is well handicapped if he can revive back on Tapeta.
17:10 – Toromona
Godolphin’s TOROMONA has been gelded and returns from over a year off but he sets a high standard on his second at Newmarket last September and still has plenty of potential after only two runs. He gets the vote ahead of Lady Rockstar, who has finished runner-up in handicaps in her last two starts and is quite closely matched with the selection on the figures. Geminga looks the pick of the other runners with experience, while Sir Michael Stoute’s striking newcomer Nationwide needs checking in the market.
17:45 – Visala
Trying to front-run again from her wide draw might not be ideal but VISALA brings some potential following her win at Yarmouth and her best effort last term was at this track. No Nay Bella has more to prove here but is on a dangerous mark, as are Bint Australia (perhaps the chief danger) and Tundra, while the return of turf failure One Last Dance to Wolverhampton is also of interest.
