NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Exeter 13:23 – DILIGENT

This looks a very straightforward race to assess, DILIGENT much superior to his rivals and is impossible to oppose. He has been rejuvenated by this yard, winning five times over fences and making the most of another good opportunity back over timber last time. It will be a big surprise if he doesn’t win again.

Exeter 13:55 – PUFFIN BAY

This mares’ maiden hurdle shouldn’t take much winning and it looks a good opening for bumper winner PUFFIN BAY to make a winning start over timber. She proved much sharper for her debut when scoring in an ordinary event at Stratford in August and, bred to do even better now sent jumping, she looks the one to side with. Maroochi is best of those with experience and is feared most on debut for a new yard.

Exeter 14:30 – NEVILLE’S CROSS

NEVILLE’S CROSS was progressive over hurdles last season and, while he perhaps isn’t the most natural jumper of a fence, he kept the mistakes to a minimum when opening his account in this sphere at Uttoxeter in July. He shaped much better than the bare result last time, too, not getting home over the much longer trip. Provided his jumping holds up, he should remain competitive from this sort of mark. Sizing At Midnight offered a bit more in this sphere from his much-reduced mark last time and looks a player.

Exeter 15:05 – SERGEANT

SERGEANT was a fairly useful winner on the Flat in Germany and he has flourished since entering handicaps over hurdles. He showed improved form to win from out of the weights at Newton Abbot in August and quickly left behind a first-flight fall when scoring again at Sedgefield last week. He tanked along that day, looking a horse some way ahead of his mark and, given he escapes a penalty for his latest success, he makes plenty of appeal. Shanandoa is perhaps the chief threat, though Lightning Blue may have more to offer for Samuel Drinkwater.

Exeter 15:40 – GUY DE GUYE

GUY DE GUYE showed more under a positive ride when third in a novice hurdle at Warwick four months ago and he rates the type that could have more to offer now handicapping. A first-time tongue strap could be the catalyst for further progress and it would be no surprise were he to show improved form. Serjeant Painter will be a big player if in the same form as when successful at Stratford last time, while Blood Eagle likely remains with a bigger effort in him over hurdles.

Exeter 16:15 – STORM HOME

STORM HOME showed much improved form to belatedly get off the mark over fences at Uttoxeter in June and he followed up from a 10 lb higher mark over the same course and distance the following month. He has been hit by another 12 lb rise in the weights, but he is clearly thriving at present, and is fancied to complete a hat-trick. Rhythm Is A Dancer looks the obvious danger.

Exeter 16:50 – GUINNESS AFFAIR

GUINNESS AFFAIR has made the perfect start over hurdles, beating a next-time-out winner at Stratford in July and defying a penalty in good style at Fontwell last time. There is a fair chance he can go on improving now handicapping and looks set to record a four-timer. Trailboss and Celestial Force are a couple of the likely dangers.
