17:30 – Hang Up

At A Pinch (beaten at 1-7 last time) and Swiss Mistress (absent for 131 days) have something to prove, so it could be worth chancing HANG UP. It’s highly likely she has a bigger run in her over this more suitable trip for last year’s winning trainer.

18:00 – Beowulf

An interesting contest with the very lightly raced 4yo Tres Speciale worthy of consideration now handicapping. The 3yos may have this, though. BEOWULF, reunited with Oisin Murphy, could be capable of much more in this bigger field, having done well in muddling affairs of late. Lightening Shore and Alyara complete the shortlist.

18:30 – Sky Commander

Thaler is the unknown quantity and he won very well over 6f last time but that performance wasn’t missed by the handicapper and he’ll need to improve again to take this. Sun Power, Sanaadh and Diocles Of Rome all have something to recommend them but SKY COMMANDER, who goes well fresh, may be the answer back from a 111-day break.

19:00 – Stylish Performer

Tabdeed and Royal Crusade have solid credentials and are greatly respected but there are viable alternatives. Live In The Moment and Soldier’s Minute are both possibles but STYLISH PERFORMER could cause a minor upset. Theoretically he has the worst chance at the weights but he’s on a sharp upward curve on the AW and there’s a strong suspicion he can develop into a class act on this surface.

19:30 – Paxos

Dropping into 0-80 company could be the catalyst for a return to peak form for PAXOS and he can gain a third win of the season. Ivasecret is another to consider with further progress expected on AW.

20:00 – Rainbow Mirage

Coolagh Magic is still well treated despite the 3lb rise for his winning stable debut and he’s high on the shortlist. Gherkin should contend at this level, while Lorna Cole and Enchanted Night are others to enter the reckoning. RAINBOW MIRAGE (nap) ran a promising race at Wolverhampton last week though and can register a second C&D success.

20:30 – Moonshiner

None of these have compelling claims but perhaps MOONSHINER, whose small-field win in July has worked out well, can strike in a lower grade than she’s used to. Queen Of Burgundy, who was always playing catch up last time, is second choice. Money for Soldier’s Son would bring him into the equation.
