13:55 Eldrickjones
ELDRICKJONES has reached a useful level in seven starts this season, producing his best effort when second in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. He made hard work of getting off the mark in a maiden at Pontefract last time, but the application of first-time cheekpieces here should help him to concentrate. He is fancied to defy a penalty to follow up before stepping back up in grade.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:30 Her Indoors
HER INDOORS hasn’t raced on the Flat since around this time last year, but she has the look of a well-handicapped filly given how high she climbed over hurdles during the winter. She ran out a dominant winner when last seen at Cheltenham in April and her stamina is yet to be fully tested on the level. She can prove herself better than a BHA mark of 75 before going back over obstacles.
15:05 Grenoble
GRENOBLE offered plenty to work on when finishing a clear second on his debut at Yarmouth in August. That form sets the standard in this line-up, while the small ‘p’ attached to his Timeform rating denotes that he is open to more improvement, especially now stepping up to a mile. Therefore, this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark at the second attempt for William Haggas, who continues in top form with 19 winners in the last 14 days.

15:40 Rogue Bear
ROGUE BEAR failed to improve when fourth on his handicap debut at Ascot last month, but there is every chance he needed the run after four months off. The form of that race is working out well (the winner followed up on his next start) and Rogue Bear shapes as if likely to be suited by this longer trip. Still relatively unexposed after only three starts, he can find the necessary progress to resume winning ways.
16:15 New Pursuit
NEW PURSUIT caught the eye when third on his nursery debut at Windsor last month, passing the post just a length and a half behind the winner and looking unlucky not to finish closer still. He was denied a run entering the final two furlongs and shuffled back, leaving him with too much ground to make up once eventually getting into the clear. It was a very good run under the circumstances and he deserves another chance with further progress on the cards.
16:50 Natchez Trace
NATCHEZ TRACE bounced back to form after six weeks off when second over this course and distance last time, running on well to be beaten just a short head. He pulled over three lengths clear of the rest and there is little doubt he is up to winning races from this mark. He isn’t easiest of rides but could be worth the benefit of the doubt in a wide-open contest.
17:20 Mac Ailey
MAC AILEY turned in his best effort of the season to regain the winning thread at Hamilton two weeks ago, leading on the bridle two furlongs out and quickly forging clear to land the spoils by two and a quarter lengths. He is 5 lb higher in the weights here but still stands out as very much the one to beat according to Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings, with a couple of the horses he beat at Hamilton coming out and winning since.
17:50 Hy Eales
HY EALES could be worth siding with in a tricky finale. She has lacked consistency this season, but it’s potentially significant that one of her better efforts came over this course and distance in August. Beaten just a length and a half on that occasion, she is 1 lb lower in the weights here and definitely has the tools to be competitive now back on softer going.
