13:55 – Gemologist

GEMOLOGIST is a long-standing maiden so isn’t one to go overboard with, but she has plenty of solid efforts over hurdles to her name, finishing runner-up four time. She produced a rare below-par effort when last seen at Musselburgh in March, but she has gone well fresh in the past, and has a career-low mark to exploit now. Beeno won 10 days ago and will likely give it another good go from the front.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:30 – Do Not Disturb

DO NOT DISTURB remains relatively lightly raced for an eight-year-old and is making up into a likeable chaser, winning both of his starts at this course so far this season. He has made all on each occasion and this course and distance winner has a strong chance of getting an easy lead in this small field. He can defy another rise in the weights following a short break. Lex Talionis came clear of the rest when just denied at Perth 10 days ago and is the obvious threat off 1 lb higher.

15:00 – Hello Judge

HELLO JUDGE finished last of five finishers on his sole start in points, but was well backed, and duly made a winning debut under Rules in a novices’ hurdle at this track in April. He fetched €65,000 as a three-year-old, so it is no real surprise he has ability, and he has the physical scope to progress further still. The drop to two miles shouldn’t be an issue and this looks an excellent opportunity to record a second win. Gym Tonic represents a powerful stable, and makes appeal on paper, so is worth monitoring in the market.

15:40 – King D’Argent

It isn’t easy to split some of these but the vote goes to KING D’ARGENT, who was highly progressive over fences last season, winning three times in all but really impressing with how quick he was at his fences. Dan Skelton is among the winners and he could take some stopping around here if allowed to dictate matters. First and second in this last year, Nuts Well and Aye Right, are both feared making their reappearance, while Irish-raider Ballyoisin is also worthy of a mention.

16:15 – Dieu Vivant

DIEU VIVANT didn’t do as well as expected in hunter chases towards the back end of last season, but he has been given a real chance by the handicapper as a result on his return to action, and he could be the one to side with after a break. Flying Verse had excuses over hurdles last time so could emerge as the main threat.

16:50 – Green Vault

GREEN VAULT had three starts in points, finishing runner-up on his middle start, and made an excellent debut under Rules when landing a bumper at Punchestown six months ago. As an ex-pointer, he’s the type to do better over obstacles, so he makes the most appeal now starting out for Lucinda Russell. He is preferred to Donald McCain’s Ibbenburen, who has already tasted success in this discipline.

17:25 – Calliope

Lots of these arrive with question marks against them, so CALLIOPE is fancied to add to her earlier course win after a late error scuppered her chances at Perth. The returning Sputnik can’t be discounted now he steps up in trip, while Gun Merchant is another worth considering if the switch back to hurdling sparks a return to form.
