13:55 – Bonneval

BONNEVAL has really found his feet of late following a string of unlucky defeats earlier in the year, winning with a fair bit in hand at Newcastle in July and impressing with the manner in which he travelled when dead-heating back at that course last time. He looked the likely winner a furlong from home but was perhaps in front on his own for too long. Expect him to be held on to for longer now and he looks the one to beat on these terms. Tahitian Prince did well to overcome a poor berth when bagging his fourth victory of the season at Kempton last time and heads the list of dangers.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:30 – Bartzella

BARTZELLA looked a good staying prospect when making a winning debut at Goodwood in August, coming from an unpromising position to beat a couple with previous experience, including Country Pyle who was back in third. Bartzella was underwhelming at Thirsk when turned over at prohibitive odds last time, but it is encouraging she is back out fairly quickly, and this well-bred filly is well worth another chance to confirm the promise of her debut win. Country Pyle, who is a half-sister to Pyledriver, remains with potential too and will appreciate this step up in trip.

15:05 – Chalk Stream

CHALK STREAM has proved himself to be one of the most progressive handicappers around this season, putting up a decidedly smart effort to record his fourth win of the campaign over a mile and a half at this course last month. The distance he put between himself and the remainder on that occasion marked him down as a pattern-class performer, so he is well worth his place in listed company, and he shapes as though he’ll stay this longer trip. Scope and Mandoob do bring Group-race form to the table, though, and also need respecting.

15:40 – Liberated Lady

LIBERATED LADY is threatening to come good soon, very much catching the eye after a luckless trip at Yarmouth last time, and she makes plenty of appeal from the same mark. She was still travelling well when short of room approaching the final furlong and met trouble again soon afterwards, finishing with plenty of running left at the line. She is more than capable of winning races from this mark. Bickerstaffe is another who shaped very well when sixth in the Ayr Silver Cup last time.

16:15 – Rajinsky

RAJINSKY was seemingly found wanting for finishing speed under such quick conditions over a mile and three quarters at Haydock recently, but he had previously gone close over this trip at York and, with his rider taking off a valuable 5 lb, a much better showing is anticipated. Future Investment continues in form and is feared most.

16:50 – Top Secret

TOP SECRET made it two wins from two starts over this course and distance when making all last time and remains a handicapper to be positive about. He was given a good tactical ride by this jockey on that occasion and probably had more in hand than it seemed. He is likely to be seen to better effect now back in a bigger field and he can offer some value against the likely short-priced favourite Sunray Major, who is potentially smart but lacks the experience of some of these.
