A weak contest so perhaps DAY TRADER can get his head in front for the first time. He was second in a course and distance seller in April and the application of first-time cheekpieces could make the difference. Mister Freeze may chase him home, while others to consider include Confrerie, Smart Connection and Blairlogie

14:45 Catch My Breath

We have almost certainly not seen the best of Charming Paradise and Hidden Angel, but both have questions to answer and a more solid alternative is topweight CATCH MY BREATH, who gave a clear sign of a return to form last time and is leniently treated. The same applies to Black Medick, who is rated his main danger.

15:20 Alrehb

Royal Invitation is an interesting newcomer, but this may rest between previous winner Spangler and ALREHB. The selection made a most encouraging start to his career at Newcastle and can go one better with the experience behind him.

15:55 Allerby

A case can be made for virtually all of these, but Henry Candy’s ALLERBY has been knocking on the door and is taken to gain her breakthrough success with the combination of first-time cheekpieces and return to 1m promising to eke out some improvement.

Top-weight Byzantia is feared most on the back of her good recent course and distance second with both Delicate Kiss and Far From A Ruby high on the shortlist too.

16:30 Penywern Taverner

A very open nursery. Attache brings some solid form and Ibn Aldar looks ready to take a step forward now stepped up in trip for his first venture into handicaps. However, PENYWERN TAVERNER rates the pick of the weights raised just 2lbs for his clear second to a subsequent winner at Yarmouth and he gets the nod.

17:00 Regimental Gent

Both Youthful King and Land Of Eagles can have a say if backing up good recent efforts at long odds, while Calm Universe and Just An Inkling bring some potential and need considering too. However, it could prove best to side with REGIMENTAL GENT, who won in good style at Chelmsford this month and can defy his 7lbs penalty.

17:35 Green Door

Lots of these have something to prove so it could be worth siding with three-time course and distance winner GREEN DOOR, who should be all the sharper for his recent sixth here after 11 months off and figures on a career-low mark.

Firenze Rosa is one of the few who arrives in good nick so she is feared most, although the returning Lady Florence is weighted to have a say too, if back on song after her break.

18:10 Jawhary

Sir Mark Prescott’s returning course and distance winner The Tide Turns is not without interest, but preference on this occasion is for another back after a break in the shape of JAWHARY (NAP). Owen Burrows’ progressive sort created a good impression when landing a 1m 2f Goodwood handicap when last seen in June and can follow up now upped in trip.
