Hot Team escapes a penalty for his win at Hamilton last Monday and is strongly respected, but preference is for MASQUE OF ANARCHY (NAP), who made it 2-3 for his current yard when scoring in good style at Beverley and is open to further progress back on Tapeta.

Ayr Empress went close in a Class 4 at Ayr last time and looks interesting on this big drop back in grade, while others to consider are Aradena and Cayman Moon.

17:30 Persist

The leading form contenders are Aunt Bethany and PERSIST, who are closely matched on their second and third in a good maiden at Salisbury 25 days ago. This rematch could go either way, but slight preference is for Persist – who was a heavily backed favourite last time and didn’t get the breaks in that race.

Another interesting contender is Chichen Itza, who was an eye-catching fourth at Leicester on her recent debut, while there are also some well-bred newcomers who need checking in the market.

18:00 Emily Post

Amazon Prince sets a fair standard on his peak efforts and is respected back up in trip. However, preference is for EMILY POST, who showed clear promise when a market springer at Thirsk two weeks ago and has plenty of scope for progress on her second start.

The Menstone Gem wasn’t beaten far over 1m on his debut last month and has claims if he can build on that, while there are several newcomers who need watching in market including David Simcock’s well-bred colt Three Diamonds.

18:30 Outsmart

Preference is for OUTSMART, who finished nicely for second here in June and is open to progress back on this surface. Libby is second choice, ahead of Euraquilo then Allen Key. Market support for newcomer Dubai Immo should be noted.

19:00 Another Angel

The main threat could come from the well-handicapped ANOTHER ANGEL, who has recorded all of his wins over course and distance and returned from a break with a bold bid over 6 furlongs at Wolverhampton last Monday. Arnold has gone close at Beverley in his last two runs and should be in the thick of things again, while Aleef is also respected on his return to all-weather.

19:30 Fennaan

Musahaba is respected under the 5lbs penalty he shoulders for a very convincing 7 furlongs course win on Friday, but earlier on that card FENNAAN ran on well for fourth after encountering traffic over this trip. With better luck today, he can capitalise upon some significant help from the handicapper. Abnaa is also on a good mark and is another to consider.

20:00 Cool Dandy

Preference is for COOL DANDY, who got back on the scoresheet with an emphatic win over course and distance on Friday and is major player again if she can repeat that form under a penalty.

Second choice is Mrs Dibble, who has been knocking on the door at Chelmsford in her last two runs and is on the same mark as for her latest second on Saturday. Recent Musselburgh winner Spartakos is respected back on all-weather, while others who could be dangerous are His Pride and Crocodile Power.

20:30 Gorgeous General

Royal Guard has some scope to build upon last month’s convincing win at Wolverhampton, but this return to Tapeta will suit GORGEOUS GENERAL – who ran well in defeat on turf at Pontefract on Thursday and has slipped to a good mark. Oakenshield and Toshack are more speculative options to consider.
