Don’t miss Matt Chapman’s Boosted Double for Saturday – Noble Dynasty (14:05) & Sacred Bridge (14:25) Both To Win

Newmarket 13.50 – Coroebus

ITV Racing Saturday gets under way with the Group 2 Royal Lodge for colts and geldings over 1m. Masekela can easily win this, but if there is a special horse in this race it has to be COROEBUS for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. My selection Coroebus, a son of the brilliant Dubawi, looked a fine prospect on debut when scoring well at Newmarket over this trip. The second that day, Saga, had experience and had shown ability so it was a decent start. This is much tougher, but he might well be up to the task.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Haydock 14:05 – Noble Dynasty

A handicap here over 1m. This is a hot race. NOBLE DYNASTY is the one to beat for Charlie Appleby and Adam Farragher who takes off 5lb which very much negates the 2lb the horse has gone up for scoring last time at Thirsk. After just four runs the 3,600,000gns son of Dubawi should have more to come and he might just be a black type horse masquerading as a handicapper. Certainly with that price tag you would hope so!

Newmarket 14:25 – Sacred Bridge

Now Group 1 company for the Cheveley Park Stakes for fillies over 6f. I love Sandrine, but on this quick ground I can’t oppose the unbeaten SACRED BRIDGE who looked really good last time for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane. That was in the Round Tower at the Curragh, a Group 3, and the daughter of Bated Breath relished the six furlongs and ran right to the line. She will be hard to stop.

Haydock 14:40 – Mondammej

Another handicap this time over 5f. Not easy! MONDAMMEJ ran poorly in the Portland when I fancied him big time, but I’ll back him again each way here for Anthony Brittain and Cam Hardie. I spoke to Hardie after the Doncaster race and he said the horse hated the good to soft ground. Back on a faster surface here there are no excuses and prior to the Portland the character handicapper was in fabulous form.

Newmarket 15:00 – Go Bears Go

Another Group 1 here in the Middle Park for colts over 6f. Unlikely to be a vintage renewal. GO BEARS GO flopped at the Curragh last time when behind the reopposing Dr Zempf. However, I suspect the David Loughnane runner ran a long way below form that day and he’s better judged on his victory in the Group 2 Railway Stakes. That day Dr Zempf was back in fourth. I’ll have a few quid each way here at biggish odds.

Newmarket 15:40 – Lucander

The big betting race of the day in the Cambridgeshire over 1m1f. Having tipped up Staxton at 25-1 in the Ayr Silver Cup last Saturday I might be getting too excited here, but I’ll take a chance with another huge priced runner here in the shape of LUCANDER. Trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Hector Crouch, Lucander is absolutely suited to this distance and was a fantastic second to Majestic Dawn in this race last year. That was off a mark of 98, and he’s down to 95 this time having failed to score this term. Many might feel the ground could be a bit too fast for my each-way hope, but he won on good to firm at Doncaster in his younger days and ran well on the surface on debut. Relatively lightly raced and with a good run at York last time he might surprise a few.

Matt Chapman’s best bets:

Newmarket 13.50 – Coroebus
Haydock 14:05 – Noble Dynasty
Newmarket 14:25 – Sacred Bridge
Haydock 14:40 – Mondammej
Newmarket 15:00 – Go Bears Go
Newmarket 15:40 – Lucander
