13:15 – Oheka
Oheka offered plenty of encouragement when third on debut on the July Course last month, keeping on in encouraging fashion and clocking a notable closing sectional. Oheka is entitled to improve significantly for that experience and looks the one to beat.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
13:50 – Masekela
Masekela has some rock-solid form and looks sure to improve for this step up in trip to a mile, so he has plenty in his favour. Masekela stayed on powerfully to be beaten only a short-head by Native Trail in the Superlative Stakes, and that form looks a lot better now as the winner followed up in the Group 1 National Stakes. Masekela showed an excellent attitude to get the better of Bayside Boy in a listed race at Newbury, and that form also looks better now following that rival’s success in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes. Masekela has been seeing out his races well over seven furlongs so looks likely to relish this extra emphasis on stamina.
14:25 – Sacred Bridge
The unbeaten Sacred Bridge has looked something special and could be a class apart from her rivals in the Cheveley Park Stakes. Sacred Bridge took her record to four from four when landing the Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh last month, putting up the best performance by a filly in the division this season. She is at least 5 lb clear of her rivals on Timeform ratings and could still have more to offer.
15:00 – Perfect Power
Norfolk Stakes winner Perfect Power had no luck when only fifth in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood, but he quickly bounced back with a decisive success in the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville and that is the best form on offer. Perfect Power didn’t get chance to fully open up in a messy race at Goodwood, but he was impressive at Deauville, readily drawing a length and a quarter clear. He is a smart colt going in the right direction and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he took another step forward.
15:40 – Chichester
Chichester carries a 4 lb penalty for his win at Ayr last week but he still looks well treated on the back of such an impressive display. Chichester was fitted with a visor for the first time at Ayr and he took a huge step forward, slamming his rival by six and a half lengths clear. The Cambridgeshire is obviously a much more competitive affair but Chichester is well handicapped and in excellent heart, so he ought to give a good account.
16:15 – Thanks Monica
Thanks Monica made a promising start against the colts on her debut on the July Course last month, showing signs of inexperience but keeping on nicely in the closing stages to finish a never-threatening fourth. That form is working out well – the second and third won next time out – and Thanks Monica will have the assistance of Frankie Dettori in the saddle here. She can make her experience tell against some well-bred newcomers.
16:50 – Outside World
Outside World was out of her depth in the Lowther Stakes but she bounced back when winning a six-furlong nursery at Goodwood earlier this month. Outside World showed a willing attitude to prevail at Goodwood and her strength in the finish, allied with her pedigree (daughter of Group 1-winning miler Nahoodh), suggests she may prove well suited by this step up to seven furlongs.
17:24 – Jumby
Jumby disappointed on a couple of occasions after winning a competitive six-furlong handicap here in May, but he has bounced back to his best the last twice. He shaped well when third behind Great Ambassador on the July Course and then showed a good attitude to fend off a promising rival in a conditions race at Salisbury. He is clearly back at the very top of his game and the return to seven furlongs looks a good move.
