NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Newmarket 13.50 – Masekala
Andrew Balding’s runner’s form got a real boost when Native Trail – who beat him a short-head at Newmarket – subsequently won the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh. Bayside Boy who Masekala beat at Newbury won the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster so the form is really strong. Royal Patronage looked the part when winning the Acomb Stakes at York and is very much on the improve. If you chuck in Coroebus for the all-conquering Godolphin operation it makes it a really good Royal Lodge Stakes.
Haydock 14:05 – Cruyff Turn
Tim Easterby’s charge was really unlucky at Ayr last weekend. Cruyff Turn didn’t have a clear run and I would rather judge him on his win in a really competitive handicap at York before that. He is only 3lbs higher than that winning mark and can get it done again at a nice price.
Newmarket 14:25 – Sandrine
This filly was a little unlucky at York when slowly away and didn’t get the sweetest run through the race when second to Zain Claudette and Sandrine will be better suited to the Rowley Mile track at Newmarket which puts a premium on stamina.
Sacred Bridge heads the market having won all her four starts in Ireland and could potentially be a star in the making. However, I always feel that two-year-old fillies travelling to a new country are not always suited by it and can get caught out. That’s my reason for taking her on.

Haydock 14:40 – Mondammej
Cam Hardie’s mount is a course and distance winner and that’s a big plus. He loves these sort of sprint handicaps and Mondammej could still be well handicapped off a mark of 93. He will do for me.
Newmarket 15:00 – Perfect Power
Got his head in front in the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville where he was a very convincing winner. Christophe Soumillon keeps the ride in this 6f Group 1 and that is a statement of intent. Perfect Power has winning form that ties in with all of these and that gives him the edge.
Newmarket 15:40 – Astro King
The 1m 1f Cambridgeshire is ultra-competitive as always and there’s lots with chances. Ryan Moore rides Astro King for Sir Michael Stoute and he finished in front of Magical Morning at Royal Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup. I’ll take him to confirm that form. He ran a belter at York. Owen Burrows’ Anmaat gets the three-year-old weight-for-age allowance from the older horse and will be a danger.
