Newmarket 13:15 – Al Jaddaf

Al Jaddaf shaped well on debut and built on that promise when finding only one too good at Kempton last time. He had the run of the race on that occasion, leading after two furlongs and kicking on soon after entering the straight, but was unable to handle the finishing surge of the winner. He still held an entry in the Royal Lodge at that stage and he should prove a level above these. Spinaround, who is also improving, looks the main danger.

Newmarket 13:50 – Fooraat

Fooraat bounced right back to form when beaten a head in third in a listed contest at York last time and was perhaps unlucky not to win, too. She was pushed along around three furlongs out but soon met some trouble, and again suffered some interference entering the final furlong before finishing with a good run. The drop back in trip shouldn’t pose a problem here and she sets a good standard kept to listed company. Wedding Dance has been off the track since splitting a pair of now-smart fillies in a Group 3 at Deauville last summer but looks a fascinating contender on return.

Newmarket 14:25 – Albaflora

Albaflora confirmed herself a smart filly when chasing home Snowfall in the Yorkshire Oaks last time and she can deservedly record a first win in pattern company. She was full value for that performance and it will be disappointing if she isn’t able to take advantage of this drop in class. The others are dependent on a flop from the selection, but Forbearance and Golden Pass are both reliable types who deserve respect.

Newmarket 15:00 – Majestic Glory

Majestic Glory found another jolt of improvement when landing the Sweet Solera Stakes on the July Course last time. That was her first try at seven furlongs and she looked well served by it, taking up the lead over a furlong out and staying on strongly to beat Wild Beauty who won a Grade 1 in Canada last weekend. That form looks very solid now and Majestic Glory is strongly fancied to complete a hat-trick. Jumbly has passed each test so far and once again commands respect.

Newmarket 15:35 – Master of the Seas

Charlie Appleby’s Master of the Seas didn’t fire at Meydan earlier in the year but he confirmed himself a smart colt when winning the Craven Stakes over a mile at this course in April before finishing an excellent second to Poetic Flare in the 2000 Guineas the following month. He has been off the track since, but he represents a yard that are enjoying an excellent season with their three-year-olds, clearly acts on the track, and remains with his best days ahead of him. He can prove too strong for Benbatl, who landed this contest impressively in 2019 and was also third 12 months ago.

Newmarket 16:10 – Star Safari

A case can be made for all of these, but Charlie Appleby has landed this contest in two of the past four years and his Star Safari is taken to add to his impressive recent record and bag a third win of the year. He wasn’t at his best in a Group 3 in France last time, but his previous third in the Group 1 Princess of Wales’s Stakes over course and distance reads well, and he is fancied to bounce back to form. Without A Fight, who finished fourth in the Geoffrey Freer, seems sure to make his presence felt also.

Newmarket 16:40 – Fireworks

A competitive handicap to close the card, but Fireworks is very much unexposed and may have been let in lightly on handicap debut. He didn’t need to improve to land prohibitive odds in a minor event at Beverley last month, but his runner-up effort to Derab over a mile here beforehand looks strong form, and Fireworks seems sure to progress further for this longer trip. Glen Esk has been in good form this season and is next on the list.
