Horse Racing tips: 7 super selections at Wolverhampton today

17:30 – Kingsholm

Blink and you’ll miss the action. Of those with blinding early pace, the thriving True Hero, the Bath scorer Hyde Park Barracks and the hat-trick-seeking Street Life have the best of the draw, with the reverse true for Wings Of A Dove. The solution could emerge from off the pace with a chance taken on the dual course winner KINGSHOLM. James Fanshawe’s charge took a definite step back in the right direction in a first-time visor at Newcastle.

18:00 – Rose Barton

Three of the obvious contenders to have run, notably Augmentarium, whose debut third in early summer was given another couple of boosts by the winner and fourth at the St Leger Meeting, have landed the three outside stalls, which won’t help. However, there are no concerns on that front with ROSE BARTON, who came in for good support ahead of both Windsor runs in the summer, and whose debut second reads particularly well. Benefit, who’s out of a dual course winner, is one of a handful of interesting newcomers in a maiden in which the market will doubtless tell a tale.

18:30 – Freedom Flyer

The only one with any potential, Another Dawn could prove very well handicapped, with excuses for her two below-par efforts in early summer, and the market will tell a story in a handicap in which otherwise only a couple can be ruled out. Iconic Knight, who has a decent record here, is preferred to the wide-drawn Storm Melody of the two last-time-out winners, but 7f may be his optimum now and the vote goes to FREEDOM FLYER, who likes it here and will find this company easier.

19:00 – Basic Beauty

With her latest clear second put in a more positive light by the winner again bolting up last week, BASIC BEAUTY (nap) looks to be starting handicap life on a fair mark. Big Boy Bobby will need to find a bit more for the stiffer test again, while The Thunderer has to bounce back from a short-priced blowout last time.

19:30 – Scheherazade

Izar is worth tracking in the market in a weak handicap but otherwise the only two to have won a race in recent times, Blue Beret and SCHEHERAZADE, stand out. Preference is for the latter, who’s the less exposed of the pair and could improve for tonight’s stiffer test.

20:00 – With The Moonlight

A somewhat tricky affair as there isn’t much between the main form contenders on the figures. Ephrata and Rouge Et Noir have a combined record of 0-6 but the former is progressing steadily and the latter may well improve for this new trip. However, Chelmsford/Epsom winners WITH THE MOONLIGHT and Beautiful Surprise are a bit more appealing, in that order of preference.

20:30 – Willy Nilly

Plenty to consider in an open finale, including two arguably unlucky last-time-out losers in Never Said Nothing and Azets. Headora holds leading claims on either of this year’s C&D seconds, while Velocity remains open to improvement back up in trip, but this can go to WILLY NILLY, a dual 1m winner for Clive Cox last summer who’s back on a handy mark for his in-form yard.
