14:25 – My Little Tip
Although Tricky Business is respected dropping back in distance in a first-time visor, the top two in the weights boast the most solid credentials. Neptune Legend chased home a progressive, in-form rival last time and looks sure to go well, but MY LITTLE TIP (nap) can complete his hat-trick. Another penalty for the colt is almost negated by Saffie Osborne’s 5lb claim.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
15:00 – Crocodile Tears
As the only previous winner in the race, Sunday Justice faces a stiff task conceding lots of weight to the fillies. Preference, then, is for CROCODILE TEARS, whose best performance came at around this distance. Better Half, who finished in front of two of these rivals last time, looks the main threat.
15:35 – Dandy Bay
Having bolted up at Bath on Sunday, topweight Black Hill Storm is likely to be popular in the betting. However, a penalty and subsequent gelding operation are a slightly offputting combination so the vote goes to the far less exposed DANDY BAY, who has shown enough to suggest she may have got in favourably on her handicap debut. None of the others can be discounted.
16:10 – Saligo Bay
Coming into this in such good heart Molinari has to be respected in his hat-trick bid with the trip likely to be within range, while the 3yo Eye Knee should also have little trouble with the longer distance. However, the vote goes to fellow 3yo SALIGO BAY who has improved as he has gone up in trip and probably still has plenty more to offer.
16:45 – Caribeno
It wouldn’t be a great surprise to see the 3yo Love Is Golden bounce back from his disappointing effort in a stronger race at Ascot last time but the prolific CARIBENO is taken to return to winning form. He may have been perked up by a 164-day break, has proved he can win fresh and could hardly have won any easier on his one previous visit here.
17:15 – Old Flame
This appears to lie between the two previous winners, but with Lightening Company having been off for four months since his successful debut this is probably best left to OLD FLAME. He looked as though still in need of the experience when scoring at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago and likely has plenty more to offer.
17:45 – Aliento
The 3yos Lockdown Lass and Listen Again have been running well enough lately to suggest they could figure, but preference is for ALIENTO. She has a consistent record over C&D including winning a division of this race last year and is drawn on the rail. Christmas Night is 8lb lower than when winning a division of this race two years ago and could also go well.
