13:10 Dubai Poet

DUBAI POET was an expensive yearling and offered plenty to work on when finishing fourth in a maiden over course and distance last month, and that race is beginning to work out. He seems sure to do better now with that experience under his belt and, provided none of the newcomers are above average, he should take all the beating.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:40 Paxos

PAXOS won back-to-back handicaps on the all-weather earlier this year, including a success over course and distance, and he is best not judged too harshly on his run at Windsor last month – where he was caught out wide throughout.

As a result, he was also stuck out on the wing in the straight which did him no favours, and that was his first start for 10 weeks, so he is entitled to strip fitter. He remains on a fair mark, so gets the vote ahead of the consistent Ivatheengine and the free-going Firepower.

14:15 Tis Marvellous

TIS MARVELLOUS is thriving at present, deservedly resuming winning ways in a handicap at Ascot last month and following up in great style in Listed company at Beverley last time. That was arguably a career-best effort from him, and he deserves his place back in pattern company.

Admittedly, this looks an open renewal of this Group 3, however he is marginally preferred to recent Doncaster winner Khaadem, who is very much unexposed at this trip.

14:50 Al Aasy

It is very hard to see past the claims of AL AASY, who has been beaten a neck in second on his last two starts despite travelling like the winner on each occasion. He is now back at the scene of his two impressive victories in Group 3 company earlier in the season though, and he could prove too classy for these rivals. Progressive three-year-old Foxes Tales, a winner at this level at Haydock last time, can pose the biggest threat.

15:25 Aramaic

This is a fascinating handicap, but it’s hard to ignore the claims of ARAMAIC – who looked a colt really going places when scoring readily on handicap debut at York earlier this month. He appeared to have been let in lightly by the handicapper and he duly proved that to be the case, quickly going clear entering the final furlong and just kept up to his work in the closing stages.

He may get a stronger pace to aim at here, which will bring about even more improvement, and he is strongly fancied to complete a hat-trick before having his sights raised further. King Leonidas has an absence to overcome, but remains with plenty of potential and is feared most for the Gosden team.

16:00 Gubbass

GUBBASS has made a promising start to his career, winning his first two starts before improving in defeat in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood and the Prix Morny at Deauville the last twice. That form sets a good standard here and, with more progress on the cards after just four starts, he looks the percentage call in an open renewal of the Mill Reef Stakes.

Gis A Sub is much respected following an excellent second in the Gimcrack Stakes at York, as is Dhabab, who could have a bigger performance in the locker returned to 6 furlongs.

16:35 Koy Koy

KOY KOY produced a promising first effort at Salisbury last month and showed improved form to finish second behind a Gosden hot pot at Ascot last time. He was unable to quicken at the same rate of knots as that rival, but stayed on well to the line and should have even more to offer.

He sets the standard on form and is chanced to go one place better. Dream By Day ran with plenty of promise himself on debut recently and looks a sure-fire improver.

17:05 Bague D’or

Plenty in with chances, but BAGUE D’OR looks a three-year-old firmly on the up and he’s taken to notch his third victory of the year having seemingly been well suited by the step up in trip when scoring at Newmarket three weeks ago. Fox Vardy has presumably had his problems, but he’s feared most provided he’s ready to roll after a year off the track, ahead of Whitehaven and Praiano.
