Poet’s Magic (second choice) and Global Humor are solid contenders, while Star Shield and Darvel are others for the shortlist.

Hat-trick seeker Empirestateofmind might still be improving, while Irreverent is afforded huge respect under the penalty he shoulders for a dominant success at Thirsk on Monday. However, with a strong early pace likely, it might be worth chancing hold-up performer KYLIE RULES, who needs to better her recent efforts but lurks on a dangerous handicap mark.
15:35 Invincibly
Several of these warrant consideration but it may pay to focus on Daniel Deronda, Bringitonboris and INVINCIBLY, who all finished second in higher-grade company on their latest outing. The suggestion is Karl Burke’s 3yo, who was having his first run after a wind op at Haydock this month and will be suited by today’s move back up to 1m.
16:10 Alyara (NAP)
Bollin Margaret and Celtic Empress (preferred in that order) can both benefit from today’s drop in grade but there could be more to come from ALYARA (nap), who came good over 1m1f at Carlisle three weeks ago and still has low mileage.

The top two on the shortlist are the very solid contenders FAIRMAC and Cockalorum in that slight order of preference. The former has been ultra-consistent since wearing blinkers and is 2-2 at this track, while the latter has gone well in three notable handicaps this summer. Third choice is Platinumcard, who looks open to further progress back down in trip. A few others also have possibilities.

The vote goes to MEWS HOUSE, who has been performing well since joining Grant Tuer and remains favourably treated on his best 2020 form. Improving 3yos Rory (second choice) and Triple Jaye command respect, while Yukon Mission, Thrilla In Manila, Rose Bandit and Refuge also have possibilities in a competitive race for the grade.
17:50 Eclipse De Lunar
Another chance is given to ECLIPSE DE LUNAR, who may not have handled the track when a disappointing favourite at Carlisle last time. Tim Easterby’s 3yo bumped into a very progressive rival when second at York three starts ago and subsequently won a three-runner contest quite comfortably. Last year’s winner Nakeeta is nothing like the force of old but he ought to make his presence felt. Wor Willie beat a dual subsequent winner when opening his account at Thirsk and is next on the list.
