Lady Raeburn’s debut effort would give her major claims, but she hasn’t built on it in two runs since. Ardom’s Lady shaped nicely at Ripon last time and is capable of better, but LUXOR FLUSH made a pleasing start to his career when keeping on for second here five weeks ago and he is open to further progress.
Although she has not really progressed after a promising start, Bay Breeze is the clear form pick. However, it wouldn’t be a great surprise if one of the newcomers won this and the vote goes to RIDICULE, who is bred to be speedy and represents one of the country’s leading stables. Fellow debutante Greenbarn may chase her home.
After flying too high in two runs following her debut success, Nurseclaire is entitled to be on the premises back at a more realistic level. However, she may have to settle for second best behind FIVE STARS, who was a ready winner on her debut at Yarmouth despite flashing her tail. Fonteyn appeals as the more likely of the two newcomers and is worth keeping a close eye on in the betting.
Recent course and distance winner Piastrella is much respected, but she may find it hard confirming the form with second-placed LIBBY. She could not secure a clear run at a vital stage before finishing to good effect.
She gets a significant weight pull here and has every chance of turning the tables. Third choice is Golden Sands, while Fylde Coast and Cubanista showed enough on their debuts here to suggest they could go well.
Show Yourself’s winning run came to an end in the Beverley Bullet 18 days ago, but she’s facing much more realistic opposition today. Ginger Jam has another big run in him, however SOUND REASON (NAP) was very impressive at Carlisle four weeks ago and he can make light of a 6lbs rise.
A tricky puzzle to solve. The in-form Photograph looks likely to go well again and Currency Exchange, Prince Ali and The Nu Form Way are also viable contenders, but the two which make most appeal are LIMITED EDITION and Italian Breeze.
The latter showed clear signs of a return to form last time, but John Butler’s runner get the vote after a promising third on his handicap debut over 1m, shaping as though this longer trip would suit.
Unless the newcomer Stay Home is above average, this should be easy pickings for AT A PINCH, who boasts by far the strongest form and needs to win a race to enhance her prospects as a broodmare. The Johnston debutante may chase her home.
Not many of these make much appeal. Last week’s Carlisle winner Captain Corelli is one of the exceptions and should go well again, but the finish may be fought out between the improving Krystal Maze and IRON SHERIFF. Roger Fell’s three-year-old remains a maiden after 16 starts, but likes it here and has a leading chance on these terms.
