Alex Gracie is worth a second look from a 1lb lower mark than when winning this last year while Naughty Ana would be a contender if putting her latest effort behind her, but MANUMISSION (nap) can prove the answer. He seems to have benefited from the switch to David Evans and has continued to run well since winning at Chepstow last month. Nosey Rosie Posey and Cobra Eye look the pick of those drawn low.
14:30 – Bartzella
Quilted ought to be capable of better than she showed on last month’s seasonal reappearance at Goodwood but she has quite a bit to find with the winner of that race, BARTZELLA, who stayed on well from the rear and seems very likely to be suited by the extra 2f here.
15:05 – Hesperis
This can go to Hughie Morrison’s 3yo HESPERIS, who made it 3-5 in handicaps with her emphatic win at Ffos Las 18 days ago and is open to further progress. The pick of the opposition could be Hooflepuff, who cashed in on a reduced mark at Wolverhampton last Saturday and remains well treated on his best form on AW and turf last year.
15:40 – Lady Rockstar
Having won this race two years ago and finished third last year, Harvest Day catches the eye considering she is lower in the weights than for both of those efforts. She ought to go well, but may have to give best to the unexposed 3yo LADY ROCKSTAR who split a couple of subsequent winners when second on handicap debut at Sandown last time. She shouldn’t have an issue with the shorter trip and blinkers are now given a go.
16:15 – Magical Effect
It might pay to chance the veteran MAGICAL EFFECT, who has become very well handicapped on his spring form, will be suited by today’s drop back in trip and might be perked up by a change of headgear. Second choice is Gold Zabeel, who ran very well over 6f on his seasonal/stable debut in July and ought to be more effective now back at 7f. Saisons D’Or is often a difficult horse to settle but he still makes appeal here.
16:50 – Trinity Lake
Brazen Bolt bids to complete a hat-trick after two recent Tapeta wins and it will be very interesting to see whether his progress continues on turf. However, preference is for TRINITY LAKE, who has a much better draw than when placed off today’s mark in a pretty competitive C&D contest nine days ago. Stone Circle may also feature.
