Horse Racing tips: A 10/1 play leads the way at Brighton today

14:10 – Great News

An open race in which the vote goes to Godolphin’s lightly raced 3yo GREAT NEWS, who has taken a strong hold at times and could resume his progress on this return to sprinting. Batchelor Boy finished well to beat an in-form rival here three weeks ago and he’s feared most on his step back up in trip. Others to consider are Recall The Show, who is 2-2 at this track, and the veteran Boom The Groom, who has run well here on his last two starts.

14:40 – Paddy K

Nothing really stands out on form in this tricky race but it might be worth siding with PADDY K, who finished well to snatch second over 6f here last month and has plenty of scope for progress upped in trip on his second start. Rubbeldiekatz also showed clear promise with her debut fourth at Leicester 27 days ago and she’s feared most, although Zain Nibras has gone close in nurseries in his last two runs and is respected back in a maiden.

15:15 – Thunderoad

This can go to THUNDEROAD, who has come good with two wins this summer and still looks feasibly treated off 6lb higher than for his clearcut success over C&D last time. The main danger is Summer Valley, who has held her form fairly well since her comeback win here in June and should give it another good shot from the front.

15:50 – Hooves Like Jagger

Turn Of Phrase didn’t get much luck when a close third at Bath last time and she’s respected at this new trip but preference is for HOOVES LIKE JAGGER (nap), who resumed his progress with an easy win over C&D last Monday and looks well treated under a penalty for that success. Another who could be in the mix is Voi, who is on a reduced mark and finished placed from a tough draw on Polytrack 11 days ago.

16:25 – Discomatic

Most of these have something to prove but DISCOMATIC got back on track with a close third at Salisbury 20 days ago and is a major player if he can back that up off the same mark here. The main threat could come from course winner River Wharfe, who went close over C&D on his penultimate run and looks interesting if he can recapture that form.

17:00 – Toronado Grey

Olivia Mary went very close over C&D last time and she’s respected off 2lb higher here. Both Incorrigible and Ivadream look interesting on their drop back to 7f, while Turquoise Kingdom has possibilities if he can recapture the form of his win at Lingfield in July. However, it is hard to get away from TORONADO GREY, who got back on the scoresheet with an easy win over 1m here last Monday and is a big player if he can repeat that form under a penalty.

17:30 – Attys Edge

Several have possibilities but the vote goes to ATTY’S EDGE, who has form figures of 431221 in sprint handicaps this season and battled well to beat a hat-trick seeker in a higher grade at Goodwood last time. Second choice is five-time course winner King Crimson, who has turned things around with a win and two placed efforts in his last three starts. The other one on the shortlist is Cappananty Con, who is on a dangerous mark and didn’t get much luck behind the selection 17 days ago.
