Chester 14.00 – Throne Hall

Alignak hasn’t run in almost a year and Wells Farhh Go hasn’t ran since May so on fitness alone you’re down to Alounak and Throne Hall. Andrea Atzeni rides Throne Hall for Kevin Ryan and he finished second in York last month. It’s a toss up between those two but I’ll side with Throne Hall.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Doncaster 14.20 – Lusail

I’m going against Reach For The Moon as I’m a big Lusail fan. The extra furlong from York to Doncaster will really suit him too. I saw him at Ascot up close and I really liked him, he’s a top horse. I liked what I saw and I’m sticking with him.

Leopardstown 14.45 – St Mark’s Basilica

St Marks Basilica is the best horse in this race over 10f, there’s no doubt about it. Tarnawa’s best day probably came in Keeneland in the Breeders’ Cup. She came well off the pace under Colin Keane that day and prior to that she won at Longchamp where she beat Alpine Star. I don’t see Colin changing his tactics for this one, he’ll ride her the same way. Poetic Flare is unproven over this distance so there’s question marks there. If Ryan Moore bolts out on St Marks Basilica and stays in front, he’s the one for me. Ryan just needs to keep it simple.

Doncaster 15.00 – Danyah

Laneqash is favourite because Jim Crowley has gone for him over Danyah but that would have been a hard decision. One is rated 112 and the other is rated 113 so there isn’t much between them. Out of the two, I’m going with Danyah. Once he’s got his head in front he can easily go on and win.

Doncaster 15.35 – Hurricane Lane and Sir Lucan (Each Way)

Hurricane Lane is clearly the one to beat and he should win. There’s also no problems with him staying either. His odds aren’t favourable to back so you’re looking for an each-way punt. Ottoman Emperor got a great ride at Goodwood from Ben Martin Coen. A lot of horses that were behind him that day are in this race, especially Sir Lucan, who was unlucky that day. I was surprised they stuck to the same tactics with Sir Lucan behind Yibir. He stayed on and he should finish in front of High Definition and I can’t figure out why there the other way round in the betting. I’m not a High Definition fan and Sir Lucan each way seems a good bet to me.
