12:40 Corviglia

CORVIGLIA is from the family of Oaks winner Light Shift, who won in these colours for Sir Henry Cecil. She has got better with each run this season and the ground will not be a problem. She also holds a few of these on previous runnings – including Limiti Di Greccio, who is the danger.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:10 Absolute Ruler

This son of War Front was workmanlike when winning over a mile at Dundalk. ABSOLUTE RULER looks a raw type, but he has a very good pedigree and I fully expect him to improve a lot from that first run. I think he represents value in this Group 2 contest.

13:40 Mother Earth

It is hard to look past MOTHER EARTH in this. She is a Guineas winner and with Ryan Moore onboard, she will be a short price. The value bet could be Champers Elysees, who has been highly tried both in the UK and Ireland. She ran a hell of a race last time at the Curragh and I expect her to run a big race here.

14:10 Mac Swiney

MAC SWINEY won the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh on heavy ground, he also ran well pinching fourth in The Derby at Epsom and you can add in a good outing at York in the Juddmonte International Stakes. He is the class act and if we get some rain his price looks very attractive.

There looks like a couple of these will be in pace-making roles, so something that will be ridden cold to make a place at a price could be interesting. Khartoum could fit the bill. He was disappointing at Killarney, but had various excuses having got upset in the stalls beforehand. He was tongue tied for the first time here and he is a player at a price to be placed.

14:45 St Mark’s Basilica

There are only four runners in here, but they are four good ones, with ST MARK’S BASILICA winner of the French Derby and French 2000 Guineas up against the victor of the English 2000 Guineas and St James’ Palace Stakes Poetic Flare. Chuck in Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Tarnawa to that mix and we are in for a cracker!

The only problem you have is where is the pace going to come from? None of them are confirmed front runners, so that could be the only issue here. With plenty of rain around in Dublin that sways things in favour of St Mark’s Basilica. Had the ground been quicker, I would’ve plumped for Poetic Flare.

15:15 Innisfree

INNISFREE went into a lot of notebooks after his run at the Curragh in the Royal Whip Stake behind Earlswood. He has some very good form as a two-year-old too, finishing second in the Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes at Newcastle behind Guineas winner Kameko. Earlswood is the obvious danger, but I feel Innisfree should just edge it.

15:45 Hook Up

The booking of Ryan Moore is ominous and is very eye-catching on HOOK UP. She was force in the big amateur handicap at the Galway festival when very strongly fancied. Ryan Moore and Willie Mullins have teamed up to win the races in the UK in the past and this could be another good match up. I reckon Willie’s other one, N’golo, could run well too as his handicap mark leaves him room to manoeuvre.

16:20 Masen

It’s interesting that the shrewd Ger Lyons is running MASEN here. He had a very solid run at Killarney behind Horoscope and he has lots of untapped potential. He was highly tried as a two-year-old, receives a weight for age allowance and could be well handicapped – even off his mark of 104.

Mick Fitzgerald’s tips summary:

13:10 Absolute Ruler
13:40 Mother Earth
14:10 Mac Swiney
14:45 St Mark’s Basilica

16:20 Masen
