13:45 Doncaster – Premier Power

PREMIER POWER has gone off a well punted favourite on all but one start to date. He reportedly works like an absolute champion at home and as yet – even though his record is not too shabby – he hasn’t produced that on the racecourse so far.

The champion jockey Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle and he’s going to fly under the radar at big odds. His last run was after a gelding operation, and he may well be much sharper here. This can also be a springboard for a tilt at the Ayr Gold Cup.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:00 Chester – Alignak

ALIGNAK managed to win this contest last year and has obviously not been the easiest to train. as we haven’t seen him since. However, his record fresh is not too bad, so the 364 day absence shouldn’t be a problem for his excellent handler Sir Michael Stoute. This is no penalty kick by any stretch of the imagination, but he can take this prior to going on to a very profitable late season campaign. With the ground much more to his liking, any rain would be an added bonus.

14:20 Doncaster – Reach For The Moon

There is not going to be much between REACH FOR THE MOON and the likely second favourite, Lusail, who has to carry a 3lb penalty for his two Group 2 successes. That can just about swing it in the favour of Reach For The Moon.

He has not been entirely straightforward and can be a little unsettled in the prelims. The big crowd at Doncaster will certainly be a mental test for this young runner. But, if he’s going to make up to being a Derby contender, he needs every part of his game to be intact.

14:35 Chester – Mr Curiosity

We have only seen MR CURIOSITY on one occasion on the turf and that was a pretty smooth success at Bath. He’s a great big powerful individual, who always looked as if this test trip (and further) was going to suit him as he grows and strengthens into that massive frame. He has had a decent break since his last outing and Jamie Spencer makes the trek to Chester for a couple of rides for the Charlie Fellowes stable.

14:45 Leopardstown – St Mark’s Basilica

This is probably going to prove to be a very tactical affair, with just the four runners taking part. But, it is an absolute cracker of a contest. ST MARK’S BASILICA should have too many gears for these from the quarter mile pole and will be able to continue what has been a fantastic run so far to rack up a five-timer. All of those will have been in Group 1 company too, he really has it all!

15:00 Doncaster – Laneqash

LANEQASH so nearly did us a massive favour at a huge price on his return at Newbury last time, and I’m afraid he’s not going to be anything like that sort of value this time round. However, he has strong course and distance form from last season and is completely unexposed, unlike all of the others – with a slight exception for Rhythm Master and Danyah.

It’s just shy of the month since we saw him, so there should be no worry regarding the bounce factor and he also can have a very profitable backend to the season.

15:35 Doncaster – Hurricane Lane

Rated at 120, HURRICANE LANE is already a proven top-class performer coming into the final classic of the season. It’s not rocket science to see him taking this pretty comfortably judged on what we have seen so far.

The value for me from an each-way point of view has to be Sir Lucan with James Doyle taking over in the saddle. He has looked a young man’s ride on the last couple of outings that I’ve seen him on the track. Hopefully, he can be smothered up with no daylight whatsoever until the furlong marker to be challenging fast and late. Hurricane Lane should win with Sir Lucan running well too.
