GIVE ‘EM THE SLIP is still a maiden, but she appreciated the return to this trip when finishing placed on the all-weather at Lingfield last time. That was arguably her best race to date and she finished with a real flourish, so she looks the one to side with in a weak race for a yard that are very much among the winners. Wolverhampton winner Verreaux Eagle looks the obvious danger.
IRISH MILLIONS is related to several winners, including a smart sort, and he offered something to work on when finishing fourth on debut at Yarmouth last month. He kept on in good style in the closing stages without being knocked about and surely will have learnt plenty for that initial experience. This is a much weaker race and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t progress past the standard-setter Devasboy.
COOLAGH MAGIC was well supported on his debut for this yard after a 11-month break and he duly resumed winning ways at Lingfield five days ago, value for more than the half-length winning margin suggests. He had fallen to a career-low mark but looked somewhere near his best form and makes obvious appeal turned out quickly from the same mark. Mostallim, who is a course and distance winner, looks the one to give him most to do, while in-form maiden Olivia Mary is another worthy of consideration.
HOOVES LIKE JAGGER belatedly opened his account from a 4 lb lower mark at Yarmouth in July and has been pretty reliable at this level since. He wasn’t suited by a steady gallop when third over course and distance two weeks ago and is fancied to land a second career success now. Roby Mill has also consistently been thereabouts in similar company of late and can chase Tony Carroll’s charge home ahead of Hammy End.
This is quite a trappy race despite the lack of numbers, but MAHANAKHON POWER, who has been in good heart in recent weeks, looks the pick of these. He proved at least as good as ever to resume winning ways at Chelmsford last month and lost little in defeat at Yarmouth last time. He seems sure to make another bold bid from the front. Magnetised had the reopposing next-time-out winner Goddess of Fire behind in second when scoring over a mile here recently and could be the one to give the selection most to think about.
BERYL BURTON left her debut for this yard well behind when finishing a very good third at Chepstow last month, and that effort was all the more meritorious as she nearly came down early in the race. On that evidence she is more than capable of winning races from this basement mark and could prove a tough nut to crack here. Recent winners Sam Bellamy and Ocean Wilde are feared most.
Ready preference is for HE’S OUR STAR, who did the job well over course and distance last month and was arguably unlucky not to follow up with Mollie Phillips again in the hot-seat back here 15 days ago. He remains on a workable mark and will take plenty of stopping. Dawn View is next on the list back down in class, while In The Cove and Thomas Lanfiere should both be in there pitching for minor honours.
