14:00 – Alotaibi

In what is a weak-looking novice – especially by Ascot standards – cosy debut winner ALOTAIBI has every chance of defying a penalty. He may have most to fear from Wanees, who has the thick end of 8l to find from Newbury but that effort was more encouraging than the bare result implies. The market can file the newcomers into some pecking order but none of them exactly leaps off the page.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:35 – Bouquet

Despite the positive impression that she made here on her debut, Destiny Queen will do well to defy a penalty in what should be an informative race. Canterbury Bell is an intriguing newcomer with a Fillies’ Mile entry but BOUQUET boasts that same engagement and has the benefit of experience after her encouraging run at Newmarket. Beautiful Secret’s Doncaster debut was no less promising and she could be the danger.

15:10 – Wahraan

No-one will have missed the trouble in running which WAHRAAN (nap) encountered at the York Ebor meeting but there has to be major hope after that performance that he can continue with his progressive ways, particularly with his pedigree auguring so well for today’s step up to 1m4f. An immediate return to form from C&D winner State Of Bliss, who did not shine at York, is feared most. Champagne Piaff is highly respected with his potential, though, and Chalk Stream has been doing well at 1m4f already.

15:45 – Documenting

The tried and trusted contingent include Via Serendipity, Cliffs Of Capri and Ripp Orf who all have tremendous C&D form going back. However, DOCUMENTING was an impressive winner of this race 12 months ago and he looks ready for another big run after a belated return to form at Doncaster recently. Perhaps Via Serendipity will be next best although Mystery Smiles is one to bear in mind on his first run since being gelded.

16:20 – Star Seeking

Sunrise Valley is unexposed but it’s hard to nail down what she has achieved, given that her good debut came when some would have had fitness issues and this will be a lot more demanding than either of her two wins since. Stablemate STAR SEEKING looks promising too, having run really well at the weights on her return at Nottingham before still looking a shade green back at 7f on the AW since. She should continue to improve with experience and the return to 1m can suit. Passionova is preferred of the remainder now back on quicker ground although Roman Mist still looked ahead of the handicapper on the AW recently.

16:55 – Popmaster

This could be fought out by the 3yos. Royal Scimitar is a strong candidate for Clive Cox but POPMASTER may well be able to resume his progress back on quicker ground and he is marginally preferred.

17:30 – Devils Angel

The eye is drawn to the unbeaten and unexposed Mine’s A Double, who has shown smart speed in winning two minor races at Leicester. He could prove a cut above this opening mark but this will be a much stiffer test of his credentials and an easy lead looks unlikely with King Of Stars in the field. Blue De Vega can go well despite his big weight but DEVIL’S ANGEL is on a roll and could have further progress in him at this trip.
