Perhaps the blinkers will do the trick with Ephemeral, who again found little for pressure over C&D last time, but she’s risky. Far From A Ruby should go well again if she settles but the vote goes to GLENDUN, who finished clear of the rest behind an easy winner over C&D last week on his second start back from seven months off. Market support for Rocket Dancer, who sports first-time headgear for his in-form yard, would be interesting.
An interesting novice in which a line can go through the majority. Old Flame ran green when heavily supported on his Polytrack debut a fortnight ago and he’ll need to be more professional if he’s to cope with the outside stall on this move down from 1m. Dubai Hope under a 5lb claimer is hard to knock but SHOBIZ could be the one, coming back from a break but with last summer’s clear second to Cobh being a few notches above anything the rest of these have managed. The penalised Unique Cut is the other with realistic claims.
This is a bit stronger than the novice which LOVES ME LIKEAROCK won at Lingfield a fortnight ago but she still has potential and can defy the penalty. Sean Kirrane again knocking 5lb off will help May Blossom’s cause, while Miss Anaco is respected despite having landed the outside stall.
This warm-looking nursery can go to MOHI, who came away with two subsequent winners over C&D last time and remains open to further improvement. Zebelle, who should appreciate the extra furlong having been taken to Ireland for a Listed race three weeks ago, is another with decent claims.

There haven’t been many more impressive maiden winners this season than BASHOSH (nap) on his turf debut in the spring and, with his latest small-field Redcar effort readily forgiven, he makes plenty of appeal. The market will be a good indicator with Big Team, who’s been gelded since a disappointing stint in Dubai, while the progressive Fair Star, who goes well fresh and whose yard is back in better form, is also respected.
John Butler’s POWER ON had a bit up his sleeve at Chelmsford and the fact he wasn’t stopping gives plenty of hope that he’ll see out this longer trip. Villanelle is consistent and the second choice, ahead of Lunar Shadow.
It’s hard to be sure where the pace is coming from and a tactical affair probably wouldn’t hurt Ford Madox Brown or Adaay Dream, who have to prove their stamina. Wurlitzer seems happier on the AW than turf and should go well again off the same mark, but preference is for DARK ESTEEM, who boasts a good record over C&D and won well last time.
