Quite a trappy event but Lilkian and TYGER BAY come here at the top of their game and the latter can follow up his impressive recent C&D success. Stone Circle should be featuring off this mark and the booking of Oisin Murphy does suggest better could be on the cards today.
Noisy Night has created a favourable impression with his two course wins this summer and he moves into nurseries with further progress on the cards. He might need it if he’s to deal with NEPTUNE LEGEND, however, with Hugo Palmer’s juvenile likely to find this more suitable than the hot race he contested at York last time. His previous Newmarket win was backed up by the clock and he’s ideally berthed for one that races prominently.
The vote goes to WINGS OF WAR (nap), who is progressing nicely and looks an ideal type for this race judged on breeding. Second choice is Scot’s Grace, who was impressive over C&D on her debut. Hierarchy (third choice) and Fearless Angel are other interesting contestants. Nymphadora is a touch more exposed but she has a good chance on ratings.
Smart 4yo HUKUM is taken to defy a 3lb penalty and complete a Group 3 hat-trick. He’s building up a good strike-rate and should have more to offer in the retained tongue-tie. Outbox may prove the biggest threat, as he ties in closely with the selection on York form in July. There are question marks hanging over the other runners but Hamish has the ability to figure highly provided he returns to action in top form, Fox Tal holds every chance if he’s in the right mood and Prince Of Arran should be thereabouts if he’s back on song.

Off a low weight upped in grade, THUNDERCLAP could well complete a Kempton hat-trick. He took really well to this venue last month and looks capable of further improvement. Second choice is Tahitian Prince, who has solid claims on 2021 evidence. Hold Fast is third on the shortlist, ahead of Fantasy Believer. Storm Catcher has possibilities if he keeps straighter in headgear.
Astaroth comes here on the back of two recent wins but the hat-trick is no certainty, with most of his rivals looking open to significant improvement. It may prove best to focus on INCUMBENT and Cephalus, who are similarly interesting types. Attache is also on the shortlist.
Love Dreams ran well over C&D last month and needs consideration, while Broxi hinted at a revival ten days ago and Super Over still has some untapped potential. STARRY EYES has a bit to prove now tried in headgear but she’s become dangerously well treated and she should be sharper for a recent outing. In a trappy event she gets the tentative verdict.
