VERTIGINOUS has showed more than enough to win a race of this nature, not least on the back of an excellent fourth in the Lowther over this trip at York last month. She should prove tough to beat. Invasive, Becoming and Benefit may be the trio to do battle for minor honours.

14:20 – Embour

A useful sprint in which most can be given a shout. EMBOUR went from the front when narrowly denied at Catterick last week and similar tactics could bear fruit in a race where there doesn’t appear to be a lot of pace by sprint standards. Tim Easterby pair Golden Apollo and Manigordo can give him most to do.

14:55 – Good Luck Fox

Lots with chances in a very open sprint, but the vote goes to GOOD LUCK FOX, who has thrived for the move to Paul Midgley this term and still has some mileage in his current mark given his past form. Oisin Murphy gets the ride too. Stablemate Buniann was unlucky at Newmarket and looks to pose the biggest threat, although Sound of Iona, Never Dark and Koropick all warrant plenty of respect.

THEBEAUTIFULGAME put her experience to good use when successful at Salisbury 3 weeks ago and there’s a chance she will be too streetwise for these under a penalty. That said, Cet Horizon and Smiling Jayne are interesting newcomers on paper.

GREAT NEWS shaped as though he’d be winning more races last time at Lingfield and gets the vote over old rival Excel Power in a trappy 3-y-o handicap.

16:30 – Arctic Fox

Cases can be made for most in this but preference is for ARCTIC FOX, who shaped like the best horse at the weights when a close fourth at Ripon last month and it looks a matter of time before Martin Todhunter’s charge takes advantage of her mark. Socially Shady rates the main danger having ran up to his best at Thirsk last week, ahead of Dreamweaver.
