He comes up against a field of older rivals on this occasion and is fancied to go one better off the same mark. Tawaafoq has a good record here, so he’s feared most ahead of the hat-trick seeking Airshow.

Though winless following 20 attempts, DIAMOND COTTAGE has been knocking firmly on the door of late and this may be the day when she finally gets her head in front. Malcolm Saunders’ filly certainly deserves to taste success and is marginally preferred to Outer Space, who will be a big threat if able to build on his recent Bath effort. Several of the others need a second look, not least Port Noir.

FOXY FEMME is on a roll and might be able to complete a hat-trick. Thunder Lily is still low mileage and may provide a bigger threat to John Gallagher’s thriving mare than recent Ffos Las scorer Act Naturally.

PAVLODAR arguably would’ve made a winning debut had he not encountered traffic problems on debut at Leicester and, with the promise of better to come, compensation awaits here. Last Hoorah had experience on his side when getting the better of newcomer Persian Royal at Ffos Las. Armed with a 4lbs pull, the latter is taken to reverse the placings and emerge as the main danger to the selection.

Perhaps CASPIAN QUEEN will provide the answer to this tricky-looking puzzle, back at 7 furlongs having contested higher-class handicaps than this over a mile the last twice. She is likely to get a decent pace to aim at with Algheed and Evasive Power in opposition. Algheed, who opened her account at Lingfield recently, is unexposed and is feared most ahead of Bolly Bullet and the consistent Spanish Star.
