DANEH looked very good when winning on her racecourse debut at Kempton and stepped up over in France with a solid third at Listed level. She hit the line really strongly on that occasion at Deauville, despite being slowly away and slightly fluffing her lines in the early stages. That experience won’t be wasted on her in here and with some lightly raced improvers in the line up, she should go to the line at an attractive price.
Whatever TITIAN did last season was always going to be a bonus, as he was a big weak individual who was going to take time to strengthen into that frame. Typically connections have been very patient with him and that can be rewarded with a strong backend to this campaign. He sets off on a mark of 86 and it would be no surprise to see him up in triple digits at the end of the season.
There is no getting away from the fact ACCIDENTAL AGENT is the class act in this line-up, although he doesn’t always seem to produce his best consistently. They switch back Georgia Dobie, who has won on him recently, and hopefully the kid glove treatment will do the trick. That should get him to put his best foot forward again. He will be held up and played late, which should suit the set up of this race as there is three or four likely pace angles in here.
ROYAL SCIMITAR is not best on the official ratings in this particular line-up, however his past performances would put him bang on the premises. With Tabdeed likely to go off a very short priced favourites, I thought we needed to find something to add at a solid each-way price.
The selection can be a little bit lazy and awkward in the early stages, so it’s perfect that Neil Callen has been booked to provide some serious strength in the saddle. He was nicknamed ‘The Ironman’ in Hong Kong, so he can get him to hit the board and maybe win for us at nice odds.
NAGANO seemed destined to step up into Group company after a very impressive win in a handicap at the Glorious Goodwood meeting here. He has all the physical and mental attributes to keep on progressing up the ladder, so a further step up and distance looks likes it will bring out even more improvement from him. He has worked his way through the grades and there is a possibility he could make a cup horse next year.
OSTILIO is going to go off a massive price, but has a few things in his favour – including a positive jockey switch to Daniel Tudhope and has a decent draw down towards the inside of the track over this tricky 5 furlongs.
Hurricane Ivor, who finished just in front of the selection at York, is drawn out in the car park. They both had a troubled passage there and given a slice of luck in the run, Ostilio can give Paddy a scare at an each-way price.
BENBATL is the class act in this race, but will need to be close to perfect to get the victory on his return from 337 days away from the track. The main danger looks to be Chindit, who brings in strong form in the mile division from this season.
However, he may have to play second fiddle to the selection on this occasion. Benbatl has a solid record when fresh and the champion jockey elect Oisin Murphy just can’t stop riding winners at the moment.
