While plenty of these are capable of getting involved at the business end, POP FAVORITE persuades most judged on his recent win on the Chelmsford Polytrack. Fast Emma has been absent since early March but did so well in her winter campaign on the AW that she is feared most, ahead of Lucayan who has done so well in her two turf handicaps. Hellavapace is another contender and Patroon is a possibility with his big drop in trip.
Preference is for UNEXPECTED ARRIVAL, who sets a fair standard on her peak turf form, represents an in-form yard and has William Buick booked from a good draw on this switch to AW. Crocodile Tears is feared most, though Stargazer Lily ran very green on turf here last month and it wouldn’t be a surprise if she left that form well behind on her second start. A newcomer to keep an eye on is George Boughey’s Belacqua, who is out of a 7f AW winner.
Mark Johnston’s progressive filly TURN BACK TIME has finished runner-up under positive tactics in her last two runs and looks a strong contender with William Buick booked on this AW debut. The main threat could come from Trans Montana, who made some promising late headway at Salisbury and is a likely improver on her second start. El Felicia has each-way claims if she can build on her encouraging debut fifth at Newmarket, while the most interesting newcomer is Sixties Baby.

Frow has made sustained and remarkable progress since last autumn, and it’s hard to tell if he’s peaked yet. However, BUSINESS bounced back to form with a good run in defeat at Wolverhampton last month and, with that form working out well, he’s the one to be with. Princesse Animale is next on the list.
Although POLAR CLOUD (nap) has not proved himself on Polytrack, his three novice races on the surface at the onset of his career should probably not be held against him. He will be very hard to beat judged on what he showed at Wolverhampton eight days ago. Highway One may be the one to follow him home, although it would be no surprise were Gavlar and Bird For Life on the premises as well.
Perfect Symphony has reached the frame in his last five starts and is respected back in a handicap. Amnaa was a good second at Windsor last time and could make another bold bid back on AW, while Bartat has possibilities if she can build on her close fourth at Catterick last week. However, it might be worth taking a chance with Clive Cox’s unexposed filly BREAKAWAY, who could appreciate this return to sprinting and is bred to be much better than her opening mark.
Wings Of A Dove has easily the best chance on form but also the sort of record which prevents supporters from resting easily. Tentative preference is for TISTAAHAL who could be open to more improvement after just two starts. Taylored, Holwah and Strike Me A Pose are others to consider in a tricky race.
The turn may finally have come around for POLAR ICE to win his first race, following his very close call when returned to this trip last time out. Vive La Danse also brings a strong recommendation from turf last time but the proven C&D effectiveness of Sundayinmay probably makes her the more likely danger. Miss Sligo is the fourth one on the shortlist.
