Open to improvement, he looks sure to go well in his bid to make it 2-2 under a penalty. Newcomer Leuven Power makes plenty of appeal on paper and is worth a look. Dark Swansong and Boafo Boy complete the shortlist.

PLAGIARISE is from a smart family and partnered by a leading rider first time out, so she could well be up to making a successful debut. Keeping Hoping and Blackbird Power are other debutantes to note, while Commandment should improve on her opening effort at Nottingham.

Roger Varian’s SAINT LAWRENCE looked better than ever when second in a Group 3 at Ascot in April and has been given a break since a lacklustre effort back in May (cheekpieces worn there now discarded), so he could be the answer to a tricky puzzle. Albasheer’s sixth in the Dewhurst has to be respected, but he’s been off 10 months. Jumby is progressive and not discounted.

Impossible to rule any of these out but preference is for EASTERN SHERIFF, who wasn’t seen to best effect at Thirsk earlier this month, and with this step back up in trip sure to suit, he’s taken to notch a fourth career victory. East Asia is in fine heart at present and he could give the selection most to think about, ahead of Blow Your Horn.

ON THE RIGHT TRACK has arguably got off fairly lightly with a 5 lb rise for last month’s comfortable Chepstow success and is fancied to follow up.
