I’m going with Scarlet Dragon, who’s trained by Alan King. He hasn’t won in a while but he’s been banging on the door and there’s a win in him. Tom Marquand takes over for David Probert and Hollie Doyle, who rode him the last couple of times. The track will suit him, he likes to be held up and hopefully he can come from the back.
Stratum ran well in the race last year but he’s just not good enough at this level, even though he’s a decent horse. That being said, I don’t fancy Stradivarius! He’s opposable but who will beat him? I’m not sure. I just can’t back Stradivarius. The ground will be key for Trueshanbut I don’t have a strong fancy in this one.

I don’t fancy Berkshire Shadow to beat Lusail. Lusail’s performance at Newmarket, where he beat Asymmetric, was solid and the form holds up in my eyes. I really don’t see Berkshire Shadow coming out on top.
Being here at York and looking at the track and the ground, it’s all coming together for Winter Power. It could be quite quick here by Friday and that will suit him. Suesa was very good at Goodwood but obviously disappointed at Royal Ascot. Golden Pal is ridden by Frankie Dettori which is good but the way the track and weather is going, I’m siding with Winter Power.
