Paddy Power pundits have delivered their best bets for Wednesday’s feature race on day one of the Ebor Festival 2021 – the Juddmonte International Stakes.

We’ve rounded up their selections for the Group 1 contest, which is set to see seven runners go to post at 3.35pm.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Timeform: “The late defection of ante-post favourite St Mark’s Basilica leaves the door open for MISHRIFF who posted an excellent second to Derby winner Adayar in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and can go one better now. Love now carries Aidan O’Brien’s hopes and, as at Ascot, she can follow home the Gosden’s top-class colt, with Mohaafeth appealing as the pick of the remainder.”

Matt Chapman: “Now the big one, the Group 1 Juddmonte International over an extended 1m 2f, and all you need is LOVE. The substitution for St Mark’s Basilica will take all the beating for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. Many have written her off as a superstar because she was all out to take the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot and then beaten in the King George at Ascot. Things did not go right in the latter event, but she kept on very well and I’ll keep the faith.”

Mick Fitzgerald: “There’s no pacemaker in the field for LOVE who was very impressive on debut at Royal Ascot, but was then third at Ascot, beaten by Epsom Derby winner Adayar with Mishriff in second. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of last season’s dual Classic winner though this season and I hope she can show us that level of form again now.”

Jason Weaver: “I’m not quite sure what happened over in France last time, but I understand connections were not pleased that the jockey did not follow the eventual winner as he found himself in an impossible position with too much ground to make up in the closing stages. If that’s the case this beautiful galloping venue will suit ALENQUER‘s long, fluent action, down to the ground.”

Paddy Power: “I’m choosing to forgive LOVE‘s defeat in the King George. She’s still a superstar and even though the O’Brien stable has been a bit quiet recently, I have a feeling that they’ll come alive this week.”

Ruby Walsh: “Mohaafeth isn’t good enough to win this one, Alcohol Free wants a bit of cut in the ground and Mac Swiney is the same. That brings me back to LOVE. She is a Guineas winner but has her form been good enough? I was disappointed in the King George but I’m going to forgive her.”
