Horse Racing tips: Ruby Walsh’s 5 best bets at York on Wednesday

Ruby has had his say ahead of day one of the York Ebor Festival.

13:50 – Whenthedealinsdone

I like Whenthedealinsdone in this one. I’ve rewatched that Goodwood win from last month where he beat Twilight Calls and it was impressive. For some reason, Twilight Calls is favourite in this race. He had a chance to win at Goodwood but he didn’t finish strong under David Probert and his run fizzled out. I loved the way Whenthedealinsdone hit the line that day. He’s up 6lbs, William Buick is on board again and I’m willing to take a chance on him.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

14:25 – Ehraz

I fancy Ehraz. Noble Truth may have finished in front of Ehraz in Newmarket but they weren’t even in the same race. Ehraz missed the break and Noble Truth was in a lovely position the whole way. I’ll side with Ehraz to turn the form around on Noble Truth.

15:00 – Yibir (Each Way)

I like Yibir in this one as an each-way shout. He was much too free on his last start at Goodwood. They need to completely change the tactics with Yibir. This race has eight runners, so they need to let him have a go. He’s a huge-striding horse who might settle well in front. He could outrun his odds if they change the tactics. Saying that, I have no idea what instructions Charlie Appleby will give to James Doyle! If they jump him out in front, he’s got a great chance.

Love Ebor Festival Yorkshire Oaks

14:35 – Love

I’m not sold on who wins this one. There’s something about Mishriff that has never gelled with me and for that reason I’m willing to take him on. Mohaafeth isn’t good enough to win, Alcohol Free wants a bit of cut in the ground and Mac Swiney needs that too. That brings me back to Love. She is a Guineas and Oaks winner but has her form been good enough since? I was disappointed by her in the King George but I’m going to forgive her.

16:10 – Arcadian Sunrise

Arcadian Sunrise is my NAP of the day. Jamie Spencer is on board for John Queally. He won well at the Galway Festival last month. Denis O’Regan was on board that day and beat Bua Boy. Arcadian Sunrise’s form should be good enough to win. I’m fairly confident.

Ruby Walsh’s best bets:

13:50 – Whenthedealinsdone
14:25 – Ehraz
15:00 – Yibir (Each Way)
14:35 – Love
16:10 – Arcadian Sunrise
