This should develop into a duel between Fitzroy and FONTANA ELLISSI. The latter gets the vote as he comes into the race on the back of a close second over hurdles, whereas his main rival unseated his rider in a chase last time. Keeper Chris ran quite well on his second start over hurdles and looks booked for third.

18:05 Mariners Moon (NAP)

Although he is 10lb higher than for his last win over fences, Costly Diamond has to enter calculations. Course specialist Little Stevie is considered along with Court Jurado but MARINERS MOON (nap) took another step forward last time and may well be ready to return to winning ways under Sean Bowen. Little Stevie may chase him home.

Plenty of runners but not many make much appeal. Those who do include Gun Merchant, No Cruise Yet and WRITTENINTHESAND and it is Tom George’s 7yo who gets the verdict. He was getting his act together over fences when last seen in the spring and may well be good enough to take care of these rivals off this mark. Gun Merchant may prove the main danger.

19:05 Train Hill

Having jumped to the right when a fair fifth on last month’s chase debut at left-handed Worcester, there can be optimism TRAIN HILL will improve on that performance now he’s at a right-handed track. Chasing newcomer Cilluirid was out of form when last seen but may be best caught fresh and he’s feared most. Rebel Leader was a good second at Uttoxeter last time and is also considered.

Given his rich vein of form on the Flat and over hurdles, WYNFORD would be very difficult to oppose if turned out quickly after his win at Beverley on Thursday. Hunting Percival may prove to be the main danger, while others to consider are Socks Off and White Walker.

An open race in which the suggestion is WHITE TURF, who has finished placed in six of his last seven starts, including a close second behind a well-handicapped rival at Bangor last time. Phoenix Dawn and Grand Enterprise are feared most in that order, though Major Snugfit bounced back with a Flat win 18 days ago and is respected back in this sphere. Front-runner Sweet Flora should give it another good shot, while others to consider are Hey Bob and Near Kettering.
