SIMPLY A DREAM is a first runner for Ger Lyons at Tramore in quite some and can finally break her maiden at the fifth time of asking on Saturday afternoon. The mount of Colin Keane finished fourth on her opening two starts at Dundalk before been placed (second at the Curragh and third at Leopardstown) in her most recent outings.
The form of her run at the Curragh reads extremely well with the third, fourth, fifth and sixth horses all subsequent winners to enhance the form. The daughter of Camelot was also unlucky at Leopardstown when stuck on the inside rail when travelling well turning for home, before staying on when handed clear passage after the first two had already gone clear.
Right Turn has been unlucky not to have won a handicap this season and wears the cheekpieces to help here for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane in this rated race. Sanosuke is another with a similar profile for Fozzy Stack, while Social Distance has been consistent for the Harrington team following wins at both Roscommon and Sligo earlier this season. However, TROPICAL CYCLONE gets the verdict on a first start in Ireland following a move from Mark Johnston to John McConnell.
The daughter of Shamardal is lightly raced and open to further improvement after five starts in the UK, which included second-place finishes on her last three starts. Several winners have subsequently enhanced the form of her runs at both Ripon and Pontefract, with an opening Irish rating of 67 looking good enough to challenge for her in-form trainer. John McConnell has managed four winners with Ally Cat, Mullaghmore Wave, Eco Pete and Calvados in the past week.
Gavin Cromwell is another in-form trainer over the past week and his APRILS JOY can return to winning ways in this middle-distance handicap. Conor Maxwell gets on extremely well with this mare having won on her at both Bellewstown (on the Flat) and at Downpatrick (over hurdles) over the past year.
She wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth to the in-form Franno over this trip at Fairyhouse last month and she can score with John McConnell’s No Trouble looking the biggest danger.
The benefit of having no starting stalls at Tramore will clearly help VULTAN, who can score here over Zero Ten in this handicap for Joseph O’Brien. The Newtown Anner Stud runner has improved since winning at Roscommon off 71 in May, and is now rated 91 following two solid efforts in Premier Handicaps at Cork and the Curragh in June. A rating of 94 and 10st 13lbs might be too much for Zero Ten under Seamie Heffernan, who comes here having won at Galway on the level last month.
There are plenty of National Hunt horses contesting this staying handicap which ends the card at Tramore on Saturday evening. Mr Moondance is interesting for Mark McNiff having finished fourth here over hurdles on Thursday and returns to the flat for the first time since January 2019 off a rating of 45. Schoone Aussicht has been in good from for local trainer Henry de Bromhead over hurdles and is clearly on the shortlist under Mikey O’Connor.
OH SO CHIC is my tentative selection here having showed some consistency for Jessica Harrington in recent starts. She ran well to finish third behind Franno at Fairyhouse before staying on for a nice third-place finish behind Peregrine Run at Leopardstown. She looks an each-way player here with Nathan Crosse once again in the saddle in an open looking finale.
